#1. Emporia EVSE or any other charger (for others) must be configured to be as Dumb Charger, meaning it has to be set to charge when asked. That means any Schedule and Energy Management should be off.
Your great, thank you. I deleted my "Home" profile. I am now on General and disregarded the optimized charge time.. I really don't care tbh. How do I make the Emporia a "Dumb Charger" in its settings?

Just got mine Friday but came from another EV.

One option to get it to charge right now is select “direct charge” in the app. But that will charge to 100%.

Set the general profile to 25%. That’s the minimum charge it will charge immediately to whenever you plug in.

Set your timer to 85% and the time to your departure time and it will charge to 85% by whatever time you set.

Did you ever get your profile to connect to the app?

I bought mine used as well. Had to call the 800 customer service number- they sent me an email asking for my drivers license and proof of ownership (registration or bill of sale). Within a few minutes I got another email with a link and my app profile was set up. Then I had to log into the car.
Appreciate the tips! I'll try what Sergey said with just the general profile this time around. And yes, it was a pain to get the app to connect to the car. Called Porsche USA.. it took calling 3x to get someone that was kind enough to take the extra steps to get it to connect. All good now :)

Glad to hear it. It really isn’t intuitive when you buy a used one and I searched but didn’t find instructions here. Porsche should do better with in-app and in-car instructions.

Instead of saying “you need to register your car with Porsche first,” instead mine did two things-

When you try to add the VIN in the app- the app just crashes every time.

When you try to log into the car, it says your username and password are incorrect.

Totally not helpful. It makes sense that you have to prove the car is yours before just connecting VIA app, but there’s a simpler way.

On my last EV, all you needed were both sets of keys and your phone in the car and you could set everything up.

If you got it brand new, then it is dumb from factory. There is nothing you need to do. However, I do set my cost per kWh from my utility so it can tell me cost per charge, and the feature I use the most is lowering Amp level if I do not need to charge at the maximum 48Amps. I set it to 35Amps.

Yes, it will stop at 85% if you did what I recommended using General Profile.

The next question that usually comes up, if you are new to EVs, is how low you need to run it down before charging back up. General guideline is that you do not want to have it too low or too high and keep it there for a long time, so the best thing you can do is to keep the battery near 50% SoC as much as possible. I know how much charge I need for the day, so I charge to say 75% before I leave for work and then when I am back, I am at 50%, then I do not plug it in until late evening. This way for example if I do not drive it for a day, the car is idle at 50%, which is scientifically is best for battery chemistry health.

@SergeyIndy well it charged to 100% again.. any thoughts? Do I need to click "direct charging?". I made sure that I deleted my home profile from the app, and I sent that info to the car. I also made sure the car itself didn't have any other profiles.. any other thoughts? There is a section on the app that says uninstall the plug in charge certificate.. but I've been hesitant to do that. I'm very appreciative of your advice, any help is wonderful..

Change minimum charge to 25% and set a timer to 85%.

Minimum charge will make it charge to whatever % you set right away when you plug in.

Timer will make it charge to X% by X time.

So if you want it to charge to 85% by 8am….. put that in the timer.

Your settings told it to charge right away to 85% but you never told it what % to stop, so it went to 100%.

@Seattle996, My view is that something is not right as the car should not be charging past 85% based on how you setup Profile as I suggested, because this is by design, but we have seen rare cases of this not being followed, as it appears to be the case with you. My next step would be for you to get the settings directly from the car to confirm that they match the App. Your App settings are spot on. The car should only have General Profile, 85%, and Optimized. Make sure Direct Charging is not On (Unchecked). Direct Charging is what charges the car as soon as possible regardless other settings to 100%.

Please confirm that the car is showing this. Please do not go into Timers yet.
If we cannot make Profile work, I can step you through Timers as a workaround.

In your screenshots above- change your minimum charge from 85% to 25%.

And in the timers tab- click “add timer” and set it to 85% at (pick a time).

Then every time you plug in it will immediately charge to 25% then it will slowly charge to 85% by whatever time you set up.

Please do not confuse the OP if you do not exactly know how this works.

By design, no matter what the setting is, as I pointed out above, the car will charge to 25% as soon as it is plugged in, regardless of the settings. You do not need to set or have a Profile with 25% to make that happen.
