TL;DR:
Try out the latest Porsche ROADS app navigation feature and thank me later. Navigation just works now.
Thought that this update was a little bit to stealth and needed some love to speak about.
(This is just a screenshot form the App preview, did not have a recent one)
Sparked from the J1 II PCM Update discussion I talked about this update:
Choose a random goal and just drive in a different direction. Seems to just work now.
(you will notice after "wrong" turn one, if you have tried old versions)
Downside:
CarPlay UX declined a bit, as you need to start/choose route from the app now.
Other News:
Otherwise no big changes/improvements.
There seems to be a new SHOUTS feature to connect locally, did not test it.
Background:
There actually was a blog post about a new in-house (?) PHOENIX navigation engine that enables this, but this in-App blog post cannot be loaded anymore.
They seem to got rid of the Mapbox CarPlay SDK for navigation.
Christmas wishlist:
Longer roadtrip mode with EV charge planning:
Happy holiday drive

Yes. Navigation is now stable.that’s interesting. Previously the app was so bad that we ended up transcribing routes into a different app or onto paper. One wrong turn and it got messed up. I will try the new version.

Longer roadtrip mode with EV charge planning:
- mix "just get there where I want to go" and most scenic landscapes not to miss on your way
- Why: Tell my girlfriend that it's just one small detour (adding 30 min to 3 hour drive) and not a 6 hour trip instead of 2h 45min
- Somehow keep in mind charging with current SoC (Porsche Charging Lounges are displayed already in the App.. Maybe they are working on that)
Happy holiday drive
