Searched for this and couldn't find an answer.....

Car slipped itself into privacy mode - This showed up on both the Phone APP and on the PC version of My Porsche. - no car data visible and functions blocked on both versions.

The PCM in the car however, showed that privacy mode was not active. So to reset it, I activated Privacy Mode on the PCM and then immediately de-activated it again.

The Phone App then showed Private deactivated all data visible again - great!.

But, the PC version still shows privacy mode as being active - with some car data now being visible (wasn't before) - but some functions not available - and some functions are available.

Signed out of My Porsche and rebooted the PC - no change - car PCM still shows Privacy Mode not active

Ideas?

What is the exact error message you get from the app or website when you attempt to connect to the car?

Do you park somewhere with poor cell reception? This happens to me when I leave the car parked for a few days in my underground parkade. Usually will fix it itself after leaving the car outside for a day or 2.

Hi the message is....

Your vehicle is in privacy mode.

Data could not be found. Several functions are therefore not available. This setting can only be changed in the vehicle.

cell signal seems ok - the weird thing is why only on my PC and why only some functions not working - until I reset it - it was all d at a and functions not allowed.

cheers

Ok so I took the car for a drive round the block and its cleared - could have been a cell reception thing I guess.

Was just a bit weird to have the privacy warning - only on one device - and to still have virtually 100% access to data and functions despite the privacy warning

Cheers

This can happen from time to time. Rather than faff or reboot just give it time.

I have had my car just 3 weeks and love it. Lots of new stuff to learn though

I came home yesterday after being out and the Phone App showed that the car was in Privacy Mode and therefore wouldn't show any details or its location. I assumed I had done something stupid so went out to the car and it definitely was NOT in Privacy mode. Tried turning Privacy Mode on and off again - but still showing Privacy Mode in the App. I searched this forum and saw mention of this being a problem after being in underground car parks - which I had been!

I went to my PC and the car was showing in My Porsche on the Web - so now I was confused. Car was visible to web but not the phone App. So I force stopped the App on my Android phone and then reopened it - and there it was and everything worked again.

May be useful to others who experience the same problem.
Waiting is another option but I was too impatient.

Been a random glitch since 2020.

Can be due to the LTE reception (weak signal, parked overnight in an underground car park, etc) available to the car's PCM which generally resolves itself once fully online and re-synced. Can also be due to random issues (IT fiddling) at Porsche where the servers are located or indeed software glitches either on mobile devices or desktops when accessing My Porsche Web Site.

Expect other false positive glitches such as open windows and lights on - again these generally clear on their own.

The other thing to watch out for is the Secondary Porsche ID as the settings here (and for the 2nd key) can be different. Check that both have privacy mode disabled.
