So, I know now why I never noticed the spoiler icon before. The main reason is that, from my seating position, the steering wheel rim blocks it from my view unless I move my head around to purposely look for it. Also, I usually drive in individual mode with "Sport" as my chosen driving setting. Based on my observations today, the icon will not display until 90mph in Sport. It's not that I've never done 90mph before, but I don't drive at the speed often and with the wheel rim blocking the view anyway, I just never saw it. BTW, in Sport Plus the icon will display (and I assume the spoiler is deployed) at 56mph. So for me, at least, mystery of the missing icon solved.
