My thoughts! Porsche fears, compatibility could be a bigger problem, especially in the root data. The compass configuration could be overwritten with every following update. ?
You put way too much faith in Porsche OTA update capabilities. :CWL:

Might be a silly question, but how in the world did you get the hands to light up green?

Digging up this older thread, but I was in the car with a flash light earlier and wanted to see if the hands had lume. See the pic, they do! So why did Porsche not point a UV led at the face to charge up the lume? Or better yet, have the hands use light guides and leak the light out the sides. So much for superior engineering. it seems that while the do some things well, engineering a clock isn't one of them.

This is basically a wristwatch on the dash with hands and markers painted with luminous paint that gets activated by light. However, even on sunny days I have never seen mine to light up like this in the dark. However, I have thermal glass that is tinted and my windshield has exterior protection film, so I am pretty sure the light intensity or band (UV) required to charge the paint is not enough.

It's beautiful though. I'm tempted to get the part and swap it on mine.

I used a bright flashlight to "charge" the lume in the hands and dial when I took that picture. I wish it was that bright normally! I also have the sound reducing glass and UV filter, so normally the clock is pretty dark, even when adjusting the clock's backlight up to it's brighter settings. It's a backlight and there's nothing that can charge the lume on the hands.

Since the lume will charge with any light, not just visible light, I was thinking that a small UV LED that shines onto the face would keep it nicely charged so it would illuminate all the time. Not sure where It would mount or how I'd power it, so if anyone has any ideas, please share. Ideally something that comes on with the headlights that points from the ceiling to the clock face would be the least intrusive. Think along the lines of the 2 orange spotlights that shine onto the colsole area in most BMWs, just replace it with a UV light so we don't see it and aim it forward instead of down.

Anyway, open to suggestions.
