Hey Everyone,

New Taycan owner here..

I recently acquired a CPO Taycan, since
The wait time for a new one is 2 yrs.
It has almost every option I wanted except sport chrono.

So I was wondering, is it possible to add a sport chrono clock, even without the package?

Similar to this Cayman below?

Not easily plus no guarantee that there is a power cable for it behind the dash

Personally I wouldn't bother and pointless without full package.

Porsche don't offer SC after market either.

You might be able to just add the clock piece. The cable for it would need to go from the Instrument Cluster to the Clock (not from the PCM). May or may not be recognized by software without reprogramming using diagnostics tools (as software gets more sophisticated).

I noticed the guy just spliced wires, didn't bother twisting the pair which was twisted in the original harness and the one he tapped into. It's most likely a LIN bus (it is on a Taycan), so leaving those wires untwisted just adds to the noise on that bus. If there are other devices connected to the same bus, the extra noise can result in intermittent weird errors or malfunctions. There is a good reason those 2 wires were twisted together while the other ones were not.

If you find a way to add the clock please post what you did. I want to do the same thing.

Unfortunately, I haven’t done anything since. I was curious and asked the dealer, but they obviously said it wasn’t possible…

Yeah not a surprise to hear that! It's the one real regret I have with my car. When I ordered it I wanted the clock but it was in a option package that I did not want. Now I wish I just bought the package.

This is actually the one random option we got - all our cars always have an analog clock! the bonus is having the drive mode dial on the wheel which i like using :)
