OK, I've been a member for some time on this forum, and it has been one of the best sources of information about the upcoming Taycan that I know of. I routinely tell my dealer, who is one of the largest and best in the country, about developments that they are not aware of. I also know that they follow this thread, and have asked me about some posts. This is a good thing, and I have nothing but great things to say about my dealer.

My car now has a VIN and is sitting in Emden waiting to get on the boat. September 4 is the designated delivery date to the dealer, but my car was 4 days early so I'm hoping for an earlier date.

However, I'm planning on the September date, and I've set up a few things that I'd like your opinions on. First, because of what I've read here, it isn't practical to have a windshield radar detector because my Turbo S will have insulating glass. I also want a laser jammer, and ordered the APL unit, but will go with the Escort 360C combined remote unit instead. I understand that the APL unit is better, but the Escort can be installed remotely, and my installer here says they have done a number of these units, and they can set it up so the entire display is projected in the rear view mirror. They send the mirror out for three days, and it comes back so I have a small display in the lower right corner of the mirror. Both radar and laser jamming with two sensors front and back for laser and a single radar sensor front. Based on my discussions with the local company CEO, they do this for local Ferrari's , Mclarens, and I've talked to these folks and they are very happy.

The second area I'm focusing on is the wrap. I really like the 'coke bottle' wrap show in an adjacent thread, where the side skirt wrap is extended to 6" or so along the door sills to give more of a 'coke bottle' look. I really like that, and think the OEM line is kind of broken. I also really liked the car in the Dolomite Silver thread where the matte finishes were painted in gloss black. I asked the film guy whether he could do all this, given that we'll need to work around the carbon fiber bits, and he said "no problem".

I think this is going to be a flagship product for the wrap people, and they are quite excited to see how they can really make this car look exceptional. Of course, we'll be tinting the windows as well.

I will look forward to sharing the pics of the car, and anything I learn in the process. I do want to thank everyone here for the really creative ways they have identified to make this car even better. As an additional element, I will be using Tech Armour screen protector, cut to size, to overlay the console and eliminate those really ugly fingerprints - great idea!
