I agree. Why wait for a rebuild. Save your money, enjoy the car and have a great road trip.
think I am swaying this way…….asked for a few bits to be thrown in complimentary……

Basic battery ok for me, only concern is resale value.

can’t handle another 15 month wait !
So you're going to buy something you didn't want?

If you must go this route I'd insist on some kind of deal where:

- You take the car now
- They order the correct one
- You get an upgrade into the correct one at very reasonable terms

Why wait for a lower spec car? Take a quick look at the 100’s of available used Taycans sitting on dealers lots and available today. If for no other reason to confirm or deny the impact of the smaller battery on the resale value. So many of these used cars are <10k miles. Maybe consider picking one up while you wait for your goldilocks car to arrive?

Bring U.K. based it’s winter range that I’d be worried about without PB+. The rest is achievable after market. I ordered the windscreen tint and to be honest had to go check the car when reading this thread because I’d not noticed it and had forgotten about it.

Personally I think I’d accept the car on the basis I get a guaranteed future trade in value when the correct spec arrives (as you will be spending less than expected anyway on the car that has arrived).

While there are people out there who will only buy PB+, the reality is that you are unlikely to recoup the full price of PB+ battery on resale after 3-4 years, especially if you're going to just trade it in for another car. All cars depreciate, options faster than base model. Since PB+ is not a requirement for you, my advice would be to get as much as you can from the dealer to compensate for their screnw-up, perhaps throw-in custom floor mats and luggage mats (or at least non-personalized ones), dashcams they already promised, perhaps a tint job for the top of the windscreen, and if you're a good negotiator, 2nd dashcam (for the back) and first/2 year service included. Then, ENJOY YOUR CAR! It's a blast! Life it too short to wait 15 months for an option you didn't care about in the first place.

Another thought - a mate of mine got £3.5k compensation for his car needing a new heater and being in the dealer for 5 weeks. They have money to offer - it needs to be way more than a dashcam.

My 4S CT (which comes as standard with PB+) range went to about 200miles over the winter. Personally i wouldn't want any less than that, i'd prefer much more! If you're thinking about keeping the car for a while and fact in battery degradation, i'd be very twitchy. I think buyers in 3 or 4 years would be too.

Given the arse has dropped out of the market and there seems to be a lot more second hand inventory, I'd tell them to keep it (well, poke it) and buy something low mileage and a year old 'better' for less money.

The compensation offered is a p-take and i imagine the sales guy is crapping himself!

All great points. I'd also add that life is too short to worry about depreciation, it's going to happen, and I suspect that all of us are going to get whacked hard when next gen batteries arrive on the scene. PB+ won't mean Jackshit to anyone when compared to solid state/semi solid state modules that provide twice the range with significantly less weight. One added benefit of the regular battery, however, is that it drastically improves your eco-ranger street cred with gen-z. When pontificating about my firm's efforts to reach carbon neutrality to the kids (who despise what the boomers and gen-x have done to the planet) that are influencing purchasing decisions, I like to mention that not only is Porsche leading the industry in terms of green manufacturing, they also allow you to select the battery size which best fits your personal use case so as not to waste limited natural resources (by having to mine more lithium and/or haul around extra battery weight).

Look at it this way , there’s a significant savings without performance battery+ if you really don’t need it -

So car due for collection next
week. It appears the SA has ordered wrong configuration

I placed order and revised on his recommendation adding:

- windscreen with grey top line
- 16 setting sports seats
- battery plus
- personalised floor mats with leather edging
- personalised reversible luggage mat.

All above missed ! either accept or he will reorder car !

offered free bodycare and dash cam at moment, doesn’t seem adequate really.
I can’t believe they missed off the PB+. That makes no sense. Reject and demand three year extension to warranty period on new car. Not so much cost to Porsche but value to the car.

Thanks for the input everyone, quite varied responses !!

Thought it only fair to update on the outcome..........

So I am picking up the car Thursday.

Ironically the above options were only added after feedback from the SA, so they weren't top priority (for me anyway) The biggest omission was BP+ and I was wavering on this anyway, I don't intend doing huge journeys so can live without it and it will save me £5k !

To be fair the dealership was, as you would expect, very apologetic. They have agreed to supply personalised mats including luggage mat, dashcam front and back, BodyCare interior and exterior free of charge (about 2k's worth).

The car will look exactly as I wanted and I can't wait to get my hands on it !!
