Trunk will not close

my trunk closes and then immediately beeps and opens up halfway. It will not close and lock even manually. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Does it think there is something on the way? It can happen if something is stuck on the corner or something.

Nothing in the way. I checked all around the edges and also the latches. I also made sure the keys were not in the trunk.

There have been some problems reported with trunk. Search for "rear lid" in forum and in TSB list provided by @rs38.

It’s the tailgate catch… I’ve just had mine done under warranty.. it’s due to water ingress from the tailgate seal leaking and corroding something…
