I continue to document my ownership experience, here's the latest video. I'm posting here a little late. Heck, I'm already getting set up for producing the 1 year piece. My how time flies when you're having fun in a Taycan.

I have a very good 2021 Taycan which is a CPO. My dilemma is how long to keep the car? Porsche warranty runs out in October 2027. I can get a Fidelity extension but not sure if that would be adequate. Then there's depreciation. It only has 22,000 miles on it. I put on about four k a year. What do you think?

I am in the exact same boat. I would love to keep the car but it feels like Russian roulette if I do. I am leaning towards taking my depreciation hit and move on as much as I don’t want to.

What would you replace it with?
Used 2025/26 rivian quad is what i am thinking. Used to not take the new depreciation hit. Same straight line performance which is intoxicating and a utilitarian platform. I have a 06 Ridgeline that has been the best vehicle I’ve owned and hope to consolidate into one vehicle eventually.

Those are very different vehicles.

Not sure at this point the used Rivian depreciation will be any better than your already used Taycan.

If you’re picking a different vehicle because your needs changed, do that. But I wouldn’t swap between the two hoping to save money in depreciation.

For Rivian in particular, if the new models flop, they could be in serious financial trouble and risk bankruptcy, which would kill the resale of course.

Not for depreciation just pointing out buying used saves because ev immediate depreciation is ridiculous and would not buy new as i didnt with my TS. Someone took a $120,000 bath. I will take mine when the time comes.
Rivian has their financial woes and am very aware. Will make the move when it is warranted.

FWIW, my plan is to keep the car for a long time once the warranty is over. I don't plan on extending it either. Yes, there are expensive components but I'm fairly confident in the car.

And you think the Rivian will be significantly more reliable than the Taycan? You might want to look into that...

Tom, thanks for making this video and the others in the set. Your original purchase videos were a big help in my own acquisition of a used 21 Taycan. I’ve had mine since August 2025 and love the car. I flew in to get mine and drove it home too. Hoping for many more enjoyable miles on these beautiful cars. Cheers.

So, what did you pay for this CPO beauty?
