Hi,
Has anyone has white worm on their Porsche wheels and what was Porsche's response - fobbed off, refurb or replacement?
Many thanks.

I have never had wheels from any manufacturer with machined highlights that didn't have it, sooner or later.
It looks like laquer shrinks away from or just becomes thin at the sharp edge and air/water gets in.

It seems to be the inevitable price to pay for that sort of styling.

That is why I chose painted wheels, they only become a problem if you scrape the paint off.

Looks like this.
Once it starts, you can't get rid of it through polishing.
And in my experience a wheel refurb never gets rid of it for more than a few months.
Bought the car 2nd hand from Porsche at end Jan (it was 2 years' old). Wheels looked immaculate and now 3 wheels have several patches.

Inherent problem for any wheel that has been diamond cut. Lacquer cannot fully adhere to the wheel so after time the small damage at the edges allow moisture in. E70 BMW X5 used to suffer badly around the centre caps. Only true fix is get them recut but even then that is only temporary or not to bother with diamond cut at all by repainting them.

If the wheels frequently have been washed with a pressure washer, this is all to common. As stated above, small cracks in the lacquer and then water gets under it. If on top of that some aggressive wheel cleaner has been used, you have to expect this issue

Agree - I only use a couple of sponges and car shampoo to clean my wheels.

It’s standard wear on diamond cut or similar wheels… Moiste sets in and then the lacquer peeling starts.

I have heard previously that it is worse on cars that visit those hand car wash guys frequently. Apparenfly high water pressure and aggressive cleaning chemicals cause it to happen faster. Although I have had the wheels lacquer peeling in my previous BMWs which were religiously washed by hand myself… so can’t say how much of this is true..

You can try with the dealer, but I’m not sure whether they will reimburse…

I had my diamond cut Defender wheels sprayed black as they had this issue and looked terrible, but that was after 9 years. Fine for an old style land rover, but not for the Porsche!

So, after some investigation the wheels were refurbished before I bought the car.
This was done to a poor standard and the dealer will have them done properly at their cost.
I've accepted this offer.

Agree.
Though I'll have to drive a total of 500 miles over 2 round trips.
So, quality work in the first place would have saved everyone a reasonable amount.

Work done last week.

Awesome job by Porsche (they subbed it out to their Ferrari dealership who had the best tools), and the wheels look at least as good as new and hopefully will be more durable.

Had a new Macan GTS courtesy car for 4 days and 400+ miles. Great to be in petrol again - awesome sound and fun to drive - but after driving electric for a few months, I was a little self-conscious driving though small villages and cold start waking up the kids.

However, except for the petrol giggles and more compact / useful size, the Taycan was better in pretty much all other meaningful areas. On the motorway it is significantly more refined and comfortable, it’s better at overtaking, better interior layout, better controls / PCM and dials (even though the Taycan has some quite sloppy UI and UX choices). Macan had better brake feel and performance though.
