Hello all,

First off I am new here but I want to send out a warning to everyone who is planning to buy a Taycan. Think twice before you do so. Unless you have masochistic tendencies and you get joy out of being tortured mentally.

I am going to give a quick chronological rundown of what happened to my car, and how I was treated by the abomination of the Porsche Dealership in Drogenbos ( Belgium ).

Mileage now: still below 40 000 km.
This is a Financial Lease.

1) All was well in my personal Porsche Paradise for about three months. After a good night of sleep I went down to my garage and found my Porsche sitting there unable to move. Warning points to an issue with the Onboard charger.
Car got picked up and was fixed after2 weeks under warranty.

2) About three weeks ago, I've had the Taycan for about 3 years now, I receive the same warning but now in yellow. Same symptoms though.

I had tried prolonging my Porsche assistance with the Dealership but their communication skills are so bad, I ended up trying to email and phone them for about 2 weeks with no result. So now I end up having to pay for my own car getting towed and having to get a rental car.

3) At this point I am still under the impression this would be a warranty fix. This feeling is reinforced when I get an automatic email by Porsche Drogenbos where it says in BIG RED LETTERS "NOT PAYABLE" .
What would an average human being think when he reads this? That he does not have to pay anything, correct?

Just to be sure I phone the Dealership and they confirm that indeed my car has been repaired, and that it will be a warranty fix..

4) Now to the grand finale. I arrive at the Porsche Dealership to pick up my car. Where the guy at the reception informs me that my car is definately not repaired yet, and that it will not be fixed under warranty.

He shows me the information and tells me that this part has to be repaired and it will cost+- 6000 euros, all to be paid by myself.

9J1915681BT Charger

Mind you, I was fuming at this point and left the Dealership in a state of shock.

5) Lastly, yesterday I received another automatic invoice by Porsche Drogenbos that literally said "Warranty Intervention". So I was thinking they might have changed their mind and showed some good will after our meeting.

Guess again, there was an error in communication, and I will have to pay the 6000 euros + another 1000 euros for the maintenance.

Conclusion: I have never in my life encountered the level of this customer service and lack of communication skills.
For people in Belgium: AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COSTS.

You should have had an inveted you for warranty extension a couple of months before 2 years ownership. The car needs to go there for a check up. If you wait and apply for longer warranty after 2 years factory warranty or with a second hand car it first needs the full 111 point check and the issues need to be corrected first.

I wouldn’t accept the costs I your case. The charger has many defects and is a technical problem.

The charger defect was the last drop that made me return it to KBC lease.

I was at Drogenbos for their Panamera ST Porsche approved. They asked 139 k. Which was much too high. I offered 20 k less which was a good offer. They offered me a year free warranty in stead. I ended up buying it in Germany even for a better price and much better optioned. They still haven’t sold it and now it is even less than the offer I made them.

One more question for your take on the warranty extension.
Is the dealership required to give you the possibilit for a warranty extension after 2 years?

Porsche Gent did send my I mail when it was 21 months old. . But I also contacted them to inquire about the possibility because I had so many problems.

I am really glad mine was a leasing without buy back obligation. That would have been a bad surprise after 4 years.

The amount of money those guys want for the work they do is ridiculously high! But a question - have you had the extended warranty?

No.

I was never asked or contacted by the dealership to extend my warranty, so as a Rookie I did not extend it.

Maybe try to contact Porsche Germany. Porsche prices are insane anyway. That's why I extended my warranty seeing the issues the car has and high repair costs. Taycan workplace hour rate is also 60 euros higher compared to other models. For my first maintenance after 2 years there was a 150 euro cost for a technical test drive on the invoice.

While I feel for you, it sounds like your car is out of warranty and you have to pay for a failed component. I completely understand the frustration with the confusing messages and poor performance of your dealership. This is another post that highlights how important the extended warranty is for those who want to own their Taycan (like me) for a very long time. I hope you get the best possible outcome OP.

Is the dealership legally obliged to propose the warranty extension to its customers?
I haven't heard anything from them and didn't even know an extension was possible.

Not over here in the US. It seems unlikely they would have that legal obligation anywhere in the world but I’d definitely check my local laws just in case.

I have read somewhere that this service is not by Porsche AG but another company. Not sure however.

I got this mail from Porsche Eastflanders exactly 3 months before the end of my 2 years.
