It is incredible that we are seeing problems with the OBC again. What's next, the heater ?

Same boat. My gen 1 2022 Taycan has been a 'beta test' vehicle .. and Cappa, Delta, and Epsilon test. Car has been at the dealer since July, for the current battery replace/repair, waiting for parts and qualified tech. I too love(d) the vehicle - but my "beta lemon" is too unreliable to continue owning - not to mention it's in the Porsche dealer's garage more than my own. ?

Porsche really need to get a grip of this.
I don't think they realise how damaging to the brand it is.

I have got friends who aren't even into cars ask me how often my Taycan breaks down - as they read something about how unreliable they are.

I often travel on pretty sketchy roads through NYC at night time. I spent the night on the side of an expressway in Queens a couple of months ago during the worst T/Storm of the year. I was not sure if I was going to drown in a flash flood, get hit by a falling tree, robbed or killed. I was there all night - 19 hours waiting for a tow. Thankfully, the storms and flooding were so bad that not even the criminals would venture out. I was traumatized and have PTSD from the experience. I won't drive the Taycan at night on these roads anymore. The unreliability of the car including but not limited to charging infrastructure, no spare tire and electrical issues makes this car a short trip - one charge fair weather car on local roads. Truthfully, I wish that an executive from PCNA would experience what I went through that evening. Trust me, things would change for us.

Don't misunderstand, I love the car and this is my 2nd Taycan so I knew what I was getting into. At the same time, I also know the car's limitations and my own. As my third vehicle, I am able to choose the car for the mission, not everyone recognizes these limitations when they make the decision to acquire and can be sadly disappointed with the ownership experience.

I had the same problem. They had to send to Germany for a part and my car was not returned to me for 32 days. (In my state, that enables the Lemon Law.) I really liked the car at first, and now that is it back, I'm warming up to it again. One more problem, though, and they are buying it back.

Rowan Atkinson - Mr Bean - a big car collector suggested always buying a new car a couple of years after launch to ensure the inevitable teething problems were resolved.

And to think fewer moving parts was supposed to mean better reliability…

We are officially, ladies and gentlemen, in the parallel Porsche universe where such rules don’t apply…

I was looking for positive comments on reliability not performance etc. for MY25 but the comments and real-life experiences people are sharing here are validating for me to stay away from Taycan altogether. I don't want to spend $80-$100k on a car for its aesthetics only to fret each time I take it out about its reliability.

Taycan has been my dream car and I have followed it from Mission E days but these continuing issues are more than helping me move away as I replace my aging BMW 528 next month. Leaning towards Audi A7 which is another car I like after Taycan, so yes, will stick with ICE as there is no other EV that interests me other than problem-ridden Taycan.

Have you check Audi's A7 forum? I'm not suggesting A7 has issues, but coming from a couple of Audis' myself, it's not a brand I buy for a reliable car.

And the 22kW version isn't even available yet!
That is correct. There is no mention of this option in any of the launch materials for the 2025 Taycan or Macan EV.

Actually, I have not checked the forums. US News and other such publications rate it pretty high and since its been on the road for a while, I am thinking it be ok. Taycan repairs seem way to high so any ICE would be ok in comparison probably. :)

Beta testers yet again.

Seems Porsche learned very little from the first gen Taycan faults and customer experience.
Now that is getting colder lets see of the newly designed HV heater is doing a better job. I was waiting for reviews of gen 2 to consider buying a new Taycan. Looks like the same problems.

What happened to the car that caused you to spend the night on the expressway?

My heater has been changed 4 months ago under recall. Now the car is sitting at the service with charging problems. Under the tests that came out the new gen heater is also wrong, need to be replaced again next to the 11 kW onboard charger.
My previous heater worked well for 2 years, the new generation is dead after 4 months...

Many times 1 or more from the 4 solenoid valve for coolant circuit (MVW2) is dead, hard to notice, makes lots of charging problems because not proper cooling under charging that stops the process driving mechanics to change the AC onboard charger many times before recognize the real problem.

Had a Tesla M3, have a BMW i4 where these systems working properly. Porsche EV parts quality is a disaster.

In EU we have only 2Y warranty so extension or repairs become huge costs factor fast.
