I have a 2020 4S with 50,000 miles, so now out of the base four-year warranty. I purchased the Porsche Platinum policy in the U.S. before the base expired, giving me a total of 8 years, 96,000 miles of coverage for everything other than HV battery, HV cables, and typical consumables. This aligns with my 2020’s battery warranty that has 8 years and 100k miles of coverage. Given the high cost of repairs, it seemed like a no brainer. Plus, you can transfer the extended warranty to a new owner for $50.

I currently plan on keeping it until the next complete Taycan generation comes out, another cool new EV arrives on the scene, or 2027, whichever comes first. I won't own a Taycan without a warranty.

Remember that most issues are solved in the first few years.
Porsche knows that.
And I do too. ?

I’ll sleep better at night. Helps with private resale should I go that path and can get a refund for unused duration should I trade it.
Good luck on the gamble! ?

If you don't mind sharing, how much, and who through? I just got a quote from the dealer for my '21 4s and they use a third party, Assurance, and it was $6,800 for 4 years. Yikes.

Interesting point for UK owners.....

If you take the warranty and then subsequently sell the car outside of the Porsche network, you can reclaim the premiums for the unused months (as long as no claim has been made).

I just p/x my Taycan for a BMW and have reclaimed the unused months of my 1 year warranty taken out last August.

So it makes taking the extended warranty even less of a risk.
Update on this post....

Trying to get a refund from Porsche for the unused warranty is like getting blood out of a stone.

Hoops, hoops and more hoops.
I've jumped through all of them and now they just aren't paying out (and not replying to correpondence).

So one final attempt to get the money owed before contacting the ombudsman.

I'm waiting to find out how much of a gamblin' man @Dee is, too.

50 odd quid for a CCJ. At least it will give you some satisfaction.
I have the dubious honour of being the Compliance Officer for our Financial Services firm.

I can safely say that ignoring customers when you get a complaint is not best practice, or a particularly good idea.

There are plenty out there who would disagree!!

Go County court. Just think if they don't show you can send the bailiffs round to recover goods. They'll probably be able to get you a porsche key ring or a 3 year old Taycan turbo!

If the warranty was used as a selling point then it won't stand a chance.

It’s not the quickest process. The refund has to be approved by Porsche Germany. I managed to claim back about £300. Not the quickest of processes but the money did come back to me. Good luck.

I should have updated my last post too.

My refund came through just after that last post, without any further chasing.

It was nearly £900 and came from Acasta Europe.
