Without power, you can open the car using the key in the key fob, it will be possible to leave the window up if the car is outside, if not, then leave the window open a little.
With the window up, it will catch slightly at the top, however be gentle and it will open and close without issue.
I would only use a multimeter set to ohms to check a fuse, although sometimes you can shine a bright light through the fuse and see that the link is still in tack and saves time.
Once you have isolated the 12V battery, take the top cover to pieces, there are several big fuses in there.
My multimeter probes have a sharp point that allows you to go both sides of a fuse while it is still in place.
You are better with the 800V battery connected when using PIWIS, but if not, you will need a tender to keep the voltage up. I often saw 30 amps + being pulled with the tender I linked to.
Remember a normal battery charger is no good for PIWIS work.
