My Taycan 4S+ in China with a few options was 230 USD. A 911 in the shop goes for 500 USD.

There is no doubt that if Porsche does not release a new generation of the Taycan my current one will be my first and last Porsche. Living in a country where EV's are the wast majority of new cars I would never buy an ICE Porsche.

Current Taycan tech is old. I can live with it for now but I would never invest in a new one if there is no progress.

It has old fashioned app, no charging stats, cost stats, detailed trip stats etc. It can't be opened and closed by proximity phone, has dumb innodrive, slow PCM.

But seating position, driving dynamics, pedal and steering feel, style inside and out makes this car one of the best daily. I enjoy each trip in it, after 3 years and almost 60k km still. Especially I happily sit in after my GT3, since I know on highways and city traffic no substitute for a sporty stylish relaxed ride.
Had Tesla, have a BMW i4, but this one is standing out, and able to keep comparison either with my brand new GT3 in many ways, everyday life.

And yes, my 17 yo daughter wants a 'dated' 718 Boxster 🤷🏻‍♂️. So if I see what our kids want, Porsche has a future.

Part of the problem is that Porsche continuously and steeply puts their prices up and with electric: other car companies can and have been strongly competing. And then VAG put 10% APR on their finance. Positioning Taycan further up in the segment than it should be IMO

Not the worst thing in the world if the J1.x platform can be stretched out for a few more years. It's a good looking car, and would just benefit from an updated PCM. Might be better for everyone's residuals here as well.

Software, range….

Steering, damping, road holding, sportiness, cornering feel, comfort, body, rigidity, overall driving experience, braking, pedal feel, seating position, material quality, enjoyment factor, brand identity. THESE make a car. Especially drivers car.

I understand that people rather travel from A to B than enjoying the way, but Porsche was never about it.
Maybe too many people bought Porsche who should not since not understanding the brand.

Porsche has proved with the Taycan, an EV can be more than just a software on wheels. That is sad people can't appreciate the DRIVE anymore, want rather a rolling self driving software.

Taycan is the only one real CAR on the EV market. I drove most of them, no competition.

I wouldn't say Porsche is behind, I think Porsche is on par or maybe better compare with other traditional car companies, but all of them are left in the dust compare with startups that build their EVs with technology in mind.

I think BMW Neue Klasse will be a huge improvement over their current EVs, but I'll reserve my opinion until real world experience on their "state of the art" technology.

I'm curious how the BMW NK will turn out, because it's the first legacy manufacturer's attempt at a Tesla, so to speak. I guess it looks better than the previous generation, somewhat.

It sounds like the 718 E will be available....eventually.
