I've got a 2022 CT and the roof cracked again and I'm just outside my warranty by 2 months. The glass costs 5k, I would replace it, but I have a feeling it's just going to crack again.

I want to replace it with a carbon fiber roof and replace the headliner to a full racetex roof liner.

Curious if there's any interest in this as a replacement for those in the states who had no choice. I'd rather pay 5k for a carbon fiber replacement that wouldn't crack again.

I would also need to find a donor roof from somewhere not in the US so I can match the OEM curves.

interesting, my roof was covered by my insurance as part of the windshield as it is all glass. Perhaps might depend on your insurance and location. I do like the idea tho. I think is great idea, not sure of structurally would be the same, perhaps someone can run some simulation and come up with the right design

Wow what a project.

I think the issue you'll run into is the Taycan typically is a leased vehicle and rarely modified. Most owners would probably be hesitant to make such a big modification. I think maybe by 2030 when these cars are in the $50s and their 3rd or 4th owners there will be stronger interest

I hope you can figure this out, bc it'll be a sick mod. Sadly mine already cracked and I'm just going to live with it (I also have VLC)

We don't get them in the states.
That's tough - coming from a couple of Teslas with glass roofs, I specifically found a Taycan with a solid roof. The States does get the short end of the stick - coloured side indicators, no active matrix headlights, forced glass roof.... what else...

I have not had my roof crack but anticipate if it does then I will first try to get my insurance to cover the replacement but if they give me any trouble then I’m more likely to have the roof glass wrapped in black vinyl instead. This way you won’t see the crack and it will reduce any chance of leaking. I live in Southern California so the car rarely sees rain anyway. I already have a cloth shade installed on the inside to block 90% of the light from the hot sun so if it gets cracked I wouldn’t notice it from the inside anyway.

I purchased my ‘23 CT as a CPO…it had a cracked roof due to replacement installation error, which had to be re-done twice…was yours the original roof and did you ask Porsche about covering the replacement? Unless it was hit by a rock, it should not crack under normal conditions.

I think getting your windshield, roof and rear window covered with a protective film is an oz of prevention.

I've got all mine protected.

It would be interesting to see if you can get a CF roof panel for the Taycan. Please keep us informed of how your quest turns out.

This is my third replacement, the car will have had 4 different roofs. All cracking from the same place. I'm out of warranty, but was told that it will be covered out of goodwill. I think I will ask them for the old roof and see if I can make a mould from it.

I reached out to the carbon fiber roof for the r1t folks. Let's see what they have to say.

This sounds familiar and is likely an installation issue. My dealer literally had to have engineers from Germany consult because the field replacement spec was not to the correct tolerances. But, they got it right back in August of ‘24 and it’s been good since then. In my opinion, they should consult with Germany and the other roof install issues before just trying again. Good luck!!! If you do get the roof and come up with another alternative I’m sure the forum would love to see it.

For sure there is a flaw with your car. They damn sure better "goodwill" this as you could have lemon lawed the car.
