Locked out of my 2020 Porsche Taycan after 12V battery failure + aftermarket soft close doors

Hi everyone,


I’m facing a very unusual problem and would really appreciate any advice.


My 2020 Porsche Taycan has an aftermarket soft close door kit (AliExpress kit replacing the original door latches).


The 12V battery is completely dead, so the key fob no longer works.


The problem is that the mechanical emergency key also does NOT open the driver’s door. The key turns normally (I’ve tried the official Porsche emergency unlocking procedure), but the door stays locked.


At this point:

• The car is completely locked.
• The frunk cannot be accessed.
• I cannot reach the emergency 12V terminal inside the fuse panel.
• Porsche roadside assistance has not been able to open it.

My question is specifically about the soft close system:


Has anyone seen an aftermarket soft close kit prevent the mechanical emergency key from releasing the door latch?


Or is there any known emergency procedure to manually release the aftermarket latch when the 12V battery is completely dead?


Any experience, installation diagrams, or technical information would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, what a crazy situation. If I remember correctly using the emergency key takes more effort than one might expect. The key mechanically unlocks the lock. Good luck.

Well that's a bad situation to be in.

If you're out of options, I'm thinking you may need to break a window, luckily a (used) replacement window can be found online fairly cheap ... and replacing it is not that hard either.

Will that work? If the deadlocks are active you still can't open the doors from inside and you need the door open to access the fuses, right?

Just went to verify, you can remove the cover for the fuse-box just fine with the door closed.
With other brands, like audi, where you have to pull a lever to pop the frunk, that usually indeed requires the door to be open.

He'll just need to find a good spot for ground, normally you'd use the metal door catch ...

How do you like the soft close doors?

After 2 years in the Taycan I still miss the soft close doors I had on my previous Panamera - not so much that I'd get after-market ones fitted, though .

Might be worth persevering as a user over on 911uk took around 50 attempts to get the car to unlock manually.



I see that the Macan has accessible 12-volt terminals through the front bumper which seems much more logical.

My 12v went flat a few weeks ago. While waiting for a jump start I opened the door mechanically. The UK manual is written wrongly for a right hand drive car. After a little wd40 it opened easily but by turning the key the opposite way to the manual.
