Hi everyone,

First post. I’m Jacob from the Midlands, UK, and I have a Taycan Turbo coming from a BMW M5. New to EV. New to Porsche.

So my Taycan has developed an intermittent fault, where acceleration at around 40-50% throttle causes the car to lose all drive power. I then have to coast to a stop. Switching the car off and on again then allows me to drive as normal.

Issue happened twice in 20 minutes both on the Motorway and now I’m anxious about even driving it. It first happened 2 weeks ago but has since reappeared.

Searching the forum it appears maybe 2 or 3 others have faced the same issue however no resolution on any of the threads.

No outstanding recalls and all software updates complete to date. It’s December 2020 model.

A advice would be most appreciated.

Look for @ct14garage here. He has some software with which you can check the SOH of your battery. This sounds potentially like a problem with a battery module collapsing under load. I assume you cannot start with launch control?

Your inverter failed. Had it happen on my first and second taycan. Not sure why I keep putting myself through this.

hey thanks for your input. This isn’t sounding good for me. How frequent was your issue? As I tried to replicate the issue and I cannot even after accelerating hard at various speeds.

Just would happen at random. Dealer will install a software update and then order a new inverter. FYI they are back ordered till the end of the month. Make sure you take a picture of it the next time it happens

Hey thanks again for your swift reply. Did your issues get resolved then eventually? Sounds promising to say the least as I believe it’s covered under the 8 warranty right?

It would not be covered by the 8 year battery warranty. This one is still sitting on the dealer lot unsure of its future as it failed 8 miles from delivery.
