Hi Guys
Is there a difference in a very early 2020 Turbo S vs new 2021 Turbo S battery?
I’ve seen talk about a plus version of a battery

The biggest change, from a performance perspective at least, is that the Turbo S will now accelerate from 0-124mph in 9.6 seconds. That’s 0.2 seconds faster than before. It’ll also cover a quarter-mile sprint in 10.7 seconds instead of 10.8 seconds.

@Smithy37
Thanks
Any insight when this change took affect?

Given that real world Turbo S 1/4mi times were already better than published, I don't attribute the "updated" MY21 times as anything more than marketing deciding to publish better numbers for a new year.

I too saw the article from a while ago about an updated battery but nothing seems to have come of that. Someone on this forum confirmed that the improved numbers were not due to any actual changes and just Porsche doing more testing and being confident on revising the numbers down.

I’d seen the speculation on here too that it was just more (and therefore) accurate testing but that is so un-porsche-like.

Read this:

First and foremost, go for the range-topping Turbo S and the 0 to 124 mph (200 km/h) run will take only 9.6 seconds provided Launch Control is turned on. That’s an improvement of 0.2 seconds compared to the 2020 Taycan Turbo S. The quicker performance in the sprint has obviously had a positive impact on the quarter-mile time as well, which now takes 10.7 seconds or a tenth of a second less than before.

from here:

https://uk.motor1.com/news/439956/2021-porsche-taycan-turbo-s-revealed/

Mentions the difference is actually between model years rather than more testing
.
For what it’s worth, I’m sure this will come to MY20 cars too as a software or firmware update.
