Heh, my replacement date is 27/Feb so either the part number is misleading or I got super unlucky with the last of the old batteries!

I’ve heard a couple people being told by Porsche that they were getting a 25 battery but instead Porsche sent a J1.1 battery.

Heh, it would be quite the miss for them to have installed the J1.1 battery two days after the TSB that said not to, but I guess I wouldn't really be surprised.

Surely Porsche will. Easier and cheaper and clear stock. But yes, bad luck for the owners. From now on, even in Europe new batteries!
Wondering if PAG will evebtually replace all (50-50% with LG chem?)...instead of trying the software route?? (Software has not played out well for VW Group considering the past).

No way, unless there's a class action lawsuit forcing PAG hand. They're trying to run out the clock on 2020 cars. Only 3 more years to go.

What about 2021 2022 2023 and 2024 cars...long wait. With all the risk associated.

Hmm, they are selling 2020's with CPO warranties that you could extend beyond that (mine goes beyond that). They're going to have to remediate with newer battery packs for quite a while past the original 8 year limit.

Yeah with CPO warranty excludes the HV Battery pack I guess. At least Porsche Approved does exclude that.

Just got my part number 9J1.915.100EX. Looks like the old battery for my 2020 Taycan Turbo. Can anyone confirm this is 94.3kw battery vs what qrok showing 79kw?

Same part number as mine. I could see the miss on the TSB on mine when it was just a couple days after the TSB was issued and my battery had to have been ordered before then, but weird to see that almost 4 months later. You could certainly ask the dealer about this and mention the TSB. The TSB is unhelpful on the part number since it shows "9J1..." and then says "
⇒ High-voltage battery (complete)

– The currently valid high-voltage battery is to be determined independently from the PET2 catalogue"

Another way you might tell that was mentioned earlier: if you got the new battery pack per the TSB it should have different mounting brackets and a coolant pipe adapter listed in the invoice too.

Went to ChatGPT says
9J1.91500EX (Remanufactured) 9J1.915100PX (New OEM)

Reman vs. New

The EX reman pack is built from previously used modules or packs reconditioned to factory specs.

2025 battery is fully new, top-to-bottom, with improved longevity and thermal behavior

Compatibility

2025 PJ9Q battery pack is NOT backward-compatible with 2020 Taycan models due to differences in:
  • BMS
  • Connectors and pack architecture
  • Vehicle software/firmware
  • Physical fit (mounts, wiring, coolant routing)
If you’re considering an upgrade or replacement, the best approach for a 2020 Taycan is to use the EX or PX reman/new packs made for your year—as full cross-compatibility with 2025 packs is not supported.

For the 2025 Taycan Turbo (9J1‑2 platform) equipped with the 105 kWh Performance Battery Plus (code PJ9Q), here are the OEM part numbers for the complete high-voltage battery pack:

  • 9J1 915 590 F – New, full HV battery, available from 27 Feb 2024
  • 9J1 915 590 FX – Updated version of the above, also from 27 Feb 2024 onward
  • 9J1 915 590 H – Earlier iteration, released 28 Feb–16 Jun 2024
  • 9J1 915 590 HX – Variant of “H,” same timeframe
  • 9J1 915 590 K – Later supersession, from 17 Jun–28 Nov

At the risk of repeating the obvious, the TSB is linked in this thread and disagrees with the AI "enshittification" rather directly:

"Cause: The previous high-voltage battery for the Porsche Taycan from model years 2020 - 2024 is no longer available.

Action: If the previous high-voltage battery needs to be replaced, replace it with a high-voltage battery from model year 2025 onwards.

Information

To ensure installation and functioning of the high-voltage battery from model year 2025 in a Porsche Taycan from model years 2020 to 2024, components of the previous high-voltage battery must be upgraded to the new high-voltage battery, vehicle parts replaced and the new high-voltage battery programmed."

All I can say is my battery pack arrived Friday and it’s the 91J.915 000EX. So doesn’t appear I received anything related to the 91J.915 590 series. Guess Im not a lucky one at this late date, back to 275mi if Im lucky.

Has anyone seen an increased mileage/charge rate inherent with the higher energy density of the new packs retrofitted to the J1.1 models? Has anyone have a different part number, would love to know as they will start installing on Monday.

I don't think you're going to gain from asking us to guess. Ask the dealer why they are installing the old part number after referring them to the TSB that says to use a 2025 pack and find out what they say. Is this Porsche Tyson's Corner?
