Apple Watch App - good when it works

Hi,

I'm finding the Apple Watch App really useful.
Eg, whilst brushing my teeth I can set the climate and heated seats, which is far more efficient option than setting a ready by time for most of my short office journeys.

However, the app almost never works unless I first wake it up by using my phone.
Which completely negates the purpose of having the Watch App!

Anyone else have these issues?
Any solution?

Agreed I love it when it works however it only works if you have it open on your phone first. Like you stated completely negates the purpose

I’ve been meaning to raise this issue too - the app is pointless for me now as it won’t work without the phone. I run several times a week with a club and use an Apple Watch to avoid carrying a phone, it really bugs me that I can’t switch the heating on before I get back to the car like I did last winter.

I‘ve put a review on the App Store reporting the problem, perhaps if everyone else does the same it might get noticed and fixed ?

Just tried it. It asked me to go to iPhone and log into the app before I can use it on the watch. Kind of defeats the purpose...

… and once you’ve done that it doesn’t seem to need the iPhone any more. Try switching off your phone and using one of the functions on the watch.

It's now working for me too. Oddly, it is showing data in metric. Watch is set to mirror iPhone and I don't see another way to change. Odd.

It still often doesn’t update though, even though it states it was last updated “now” when another screen shows it was actually updated 19 hours ago!

if my iPhone is in airplane mode, the Apple Watch doesn't connect to the car...so for me it's a no go!

I’ve just tried that and it worked fine
