As usual today I went to an EA station to charge. After few moments of 'initiating the connection' message, it errored out with 'error in connecting with the vehicle'. I have experienced 'not being able to connect', but 'error in connecting' message is the first one for me. Not a big deal I thought....., un-plug and try again or move to the next station. But , car charger port was in red solid color and wouldn't allow me to unplug, the charging unit displayed just the error message but no means to cancel or terminate the session. Locked and unlocked the car, turned off and turn on the car, still port was locked.

As a last option, thought of calling EA customer service to terminate the session or reboot the system and to call Porsche dealer. Few minutes into EA call (while waiting), checked the port again. This time red is gone and I could able to unplug and plug again to charge.

For any reason if the plug is locked , how one can unplug? Sorry if this has been discussed earlier.

How long have you had the car? When I first got mine the first few times I went to EA I had the same trouble. It took a few weeks for EA or someone for the account to settle. Ever since then I have never had a problem with plug and play charging.

As to the plug getting locked to the car, I had this happen once and it was when I ended the session at the charger screen rather than pressing the button next to the plug on the car. Only end your charging session using the button on the car not the screen, this should stop you from having the plug getting locked on the car. BTW, if and when that happens call EA they will unlock it for you.
Where in NJ are you located? I am in South Jersey.

Thanks. Its little over a month now. Initially I have had connection issues but those were related enabling direct charging setting. Once that was set, it has been a smooth sailing.......so far!.

On plug getting locked, I couldn't terminate the session from the charging station as there wasn't an option available. Tried on car, red stayed solid red!. As far as reaching out to EA for such, that's what I did but was skeptical of their CS technical skills to trouble shoot and fix. Don't take me wrong, they are polite and friendly, but not sure about their technical caliber. Luckily it got unlocked on its own after sometime, may be manufacturer's error handling process ???

I am near Bridgewater area. Good to connect with you virtually!!

Hopefully they will get it right for you. When it first happened to me I went back to the dealer and they told me it was an EA issue. Honestly time worked itself out.
Nice meeting you as well. Enjoy your car, I love mine.

using the PCM got to Charging then the dots (....... ) and choose unlock ..simple effective. Be aware that it relocks fairly quickly - so move fast and pay attention!

-Once you have pressed button at charging port to stop charging or you get red light-

If nothing else works, use the walk away and let car reset itself method.

Turn off the car, exit the car, lock the doors, take all key fobs and walk away from the car so key fobs are out of range of the car. Stay away from car/out of range for 5 to 10 minutes.

Return to the car, unlock the car, at charge port unlock car with key fob once more. Then press button on charge port, wait for white light above plug to illuminate (may have to shade it in bright sun to see), remove plug while white light illuminates it.

This is essentially tip #4 in attachment to this thread.
