So. After a whopping 9 days and 560 km my Taycan quit on me…. For everybody elses sake I hope this is a record!

We started our vacation to Paris and right at the entrance to the highway 3 km from home) i get a error for not holding the steering wheel, which i was holding. Followed by red ring; parked the car on the side before the highway and it disappeared. Then warning for failing left headlight, followed by right headlight, failure of camerasystems and emergency parking system… luckily she also had the text that we could continue driving.
next exit is straight to the Porsche dealer so we went there. It all seems to add up with the chargingproblems i already had and apparently it is issues that are related somehow…

so, here we are in Paris in a Macan. Hopefully my beauty will be fixed next week! And troublefree from there on

sorry to hear that..
but I think I got you beat. While my car was in service at the dealer, I was given a Cayenne S E Hybrid loaner with only 13 miles on it. 5 days later at approximately 200 miles total on the odometer, the loaner got the red circle of death.

A bit misleading - the car pictured is a J1.1, I am sure it has more than 560km on the odometer and is older than 9 days. Understand it's new to you.

That said - mine managed a whopping 100km on the odometer from new before the front left strut failed and I got a suspension error, so I am not trying to defend Porsche here or anything.

So. Today i got my taycan back from repairs. Diagnoses didn’t come up with the issues that displayed and they couldn’t figure out what the cause was.
They did notice a bunch of optional updates were waiting. I did not see these btw in the updatemenu !
They consulted with Porsche AG and got permission to reprogram PCM. Apparently they cannot do this without permission from AG! After this everything has been tested extensively and all works fine

however… after todays drive i plugged in my homecharger wallbox and again the right side doesn’t work; it locks and initiates but then goes red. Left side is just fine.
At Porsche they also tested charging in all possible ways and no problems emerged.

So this chargingproblem seems to be unrelated to software. Does anyone else have similar problems? Or any idea what could be wrong? I’m thinking the wallbox and cable are fine since left works good. Maybe the socket is failing?

i already sent a message to porschecenter tonight and expect a reply tomorrow….

Do you have the 22kW OBC?

Yes i do. Goty wallbox set to 16A though, about 10,4 KW
I have read here that they are failing, so I’m thinking this is prob it. No replacement available so you’ll get downgraded if it turns out to be the case. Make sure you ask for compensation.

But if it’s the OBC then shouldn’t the left port also be failing? I don’t think there is a left and a right OBC?

Good question, not sure since mine came with the 11kW and haven’t experienced the issue. Check out some threads here on it and maybe someone has mentioned it.

Yeah. It’s a lot of issues with OBC for sure. It was my initial thought as well but I’m not so sure anymore. I didn’t find these particular problems in various threads though. (It’s lots of threads, might have missed it of course ….)

UPDATE.
found out that if I really firmly press the cable in the socket during initiation the right side does work. So my best guess is that the previous owner also only used this port and it’s a bit exhausted and loosened. Is this a more common issue?

UPDATE 2.
porsche center just confirmed. Next week they will replace the charging port
