I'd be grateful if anyone could recommend a repair shop in the Seattle region. One of the two Porsche approved collision centers here (Queen City Auto Rebuild) isn't taking new requests and I'm waiting to hear back from the other (Haury's). I'm going through my Geico insurance, for I'm anticipating a bill in the thousands.

The dent is through the paintwork, and I have PPF. I'm not experienced with auto ownership in the USA: does anyone know how it works with the PPF/insurance: do insurance companies tend to cover a replacement, or do they stick it back to the owner?

The insurance question is highly dependent on the company you have. Most will not cover extras but some do.

I had my bumper replaced and painted a while ago, due to an accident caused by a tint shop technician.

Queen City comes highly recommended from everyone I spoke with, at the time their next appointment was 5 months away so I was also looking at alternatives.

I ended up going to Eurotech Bodywerkes in Kirkland, they seemed to have a great reputation on Rennlist and the owner has a long history on working with higher end cars. I was very satisfied with their work - the paint was immaculate, flawless finish and color matched perfectly, and great communication on keeping me updated along the way.

Not sure about insurance and PPF, since I did not have PPF at the time of that front bumper repair with Eurotech Bodywerkes. Porsche Bellevue actually replaced my rear door on the driver's side last month due to a rivet failure. They have a good relationship with Queen City and actually got them to do the job with just a week's notice. I had paint protection film by then, so they actually took my car to the original PPF installer to re-apply PPF on the new door (after the paint had cured). YMMV with your own insurance though, but for me Porsche covered everything including PPF since it was an issue under warranty.

Good luck.

Thank you for your kind response. It was very useful. I plan to contact Eurotech :) I am glad you had such a positive experience.

I had significant respray done on my 911 at Queen City Autorebuild. They did an outstanding job for me and AFAIK they are an authorized repair shop for most exotic/luxury brands in the area.

Thanks for the tip. They sound great. Unfortunately, their next appointment for an estimate is October 5th.

I've used both Queen City and Eurotech.

Queen City did an excellent job on a small scrape on my Taycan a couple of years ago. Color match was excellent. I've used Eurotech exclusively on my 964 for over a decade, including a complete repaint. They are excellent, if possible, make sure Mark does the respray. Good luck!

The previous post on PPF coverage is correct. Depends on your policy wording. Some carriers extend a limited amount of physical damage coverage (mine is $5k) for non-factory add ons. Others charge you for it on a scheduled basis.

I can’t tell how extensive the damages from that one picture. Is it across the entire bumper, and was the bumper punctured or bent?

Out of curiosity, you might want to give Chris Kirk at Same Day USA a visit and see what he thinks. Depending on the level of damage it might be something he could help you with.

Once the paint repair is done, you can have the PPF replaced over the bumper.

Haury's is awesome - They'll do a great job. They worked on my 4S earlier this year. Queen city is really good also. You'd be in good hands with either one.

That is great to hear. I took it to Haury's today and was impressed by the conscientiousness of the owner, who personally deals with Porsche vehicles. He did mention that Geico are a nightmare to deal with. I will post an update later.

I strongly considered Eurotech but decided to go with a Porsche-certified facility considering they'll have to send it to Porsche for recalibration of the front sensors after removing the bumper.

Thanks to all who advised me. What a kind place this forum is :)

Geico is a good company but like most bigger carriers offers shops a lower labor rate than shops charge non insurance customers. Also they won’t pay for the extra items that companies use to pad there bills. So it’s merely about economics and profit margin for the shops. I wouldn’t worry about the quality of the repair. Geico will pay to get it done right. It’s just the shop won’t make as much.

Thanks a lot for this insight. It's reassuring.

Believe it or not, this issue was only fully resolved today, some 3.5 months after beginning the process! It was frustrating. I chose Eurotech and was appreciated owner Neal Moore's customer-centric, caring approach. He was hell-bent on getting me a new bumper and, surprisingly, Geico agreed to it. There were all kinds of delays, with Geico's adjuster unavailable to inspect the damage. My claims agent was awesome and, after the adjuster didn't show, approved almost everything. Then things got messy as Porsche sent the wrong bumper and took two weeks to send a new one. Getting the sensors recalibrated by Porsche took another week. The repairs were finished a month ago but I was advised to wait 4 weeks to get the PPF and ceramic paint done, and that was completed today (obviously I could still drive it while I waited for the pain to settle over this past month).

$14k of repairs for front and rear. I had to pay $400 in addition to my deductibles as Geico was only willing to pay the shop $82/hour so I ate the $8/hour shortfall.

I would work with Eurotech again. Neal is a charming guy who really cares for his customers' vehicles. And their craftsmanship is top notch.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I am enjoying my car more than ever after being without it for so long.

Great to hear you are happy with the results. Now I have another name for great repairs in the Seattle area.
