I don't know what roads or tires you guys have in the US, but i can't stand the wind and tire noise only that you guys call "quiet"

I have noise insulated windows and its still unberable. Sport sound on every little drive for me, so I would definitely use this - not the "manual" part, can't be arsed and a PDK is hardly manual.

Surprised to hear that chun! I do not have the insulated glass and still find the car extremely silent!

Do you not listen to music while driving? Even at low volume, I never notice the car sounds.

Lots of calls & podcasts, and even with music, not loud enough usually (4-6 volume) to cover the wind/tire noise of 130km+

Maybe i am overly sensible to road noise, but for me "e-shift" noise would be a must.

The road noise could also be the road surface? I notice here in the U.K. it can get quite loud but over in Europe it’s often much quieter

Perhaps at 130km/h+ you should be paying attention to the road rather than your phone call or podcast?

As an engineer I have always seen the noise and need for a multi ratio gearbox in a piston engine as a bug not a feature.

Equally, as an engineer I know that well engineered cars often fail to attract many sales...

What would be the alternative to a multi ratio gearbox though?
I thought CVTs aren't compatible with high torque engines.

I usually don't drive with my ears, and 130km is hardly high enough speed to require such focus
