I am really beginning to worry. I pulled into an EA charging area - not located in a sketchy location - with the new, single cable, thin chargers. I am still (just) within the 3 year free charging window, and plug-and-charge has been working at other locations. It’s 90° in the shade. I plug in, and there’ no connecting, i am in perpetual “Connecting” mode. . After 3 tries, plugging and unplugging, I call support and talk to a human being, apparently located in a noisy call center. I tried the EA app. No luck. Then I was told to check “my Porsche” app to see if I was still within the 3 year complimentary charging period. Check. ? So the support person finally reboots the charger, and I am able to charge! I am more relieved than satisfied. I get home and discover I’ve been billed for the charge, which was supposed to be complimentary. These experiences happen too much. It’s such fun to be the guy on the phone in sweltering weather in sometimes scary locations. Steve

Sorry to hear...I just had the opposite experience and was hopeful we were turning the corner but maybe not...

I just did a round trip , ~320 mile (each way) trip from the US to Montreal and had the most amazing experience...

EvolveNY which uses EA chargers has been setting up a bunch. We stopped on the way up for a bathroom break, charged for 14 minutes, 32.17Kwh and then stopped one more time before crossing into Canada so I wouldn't have to deal with setting up to charge on the Canadian side. We had a 19 minute lunch, charged up to 97%.

It turned out that the hotel in Montreal we stayed at had 14 free L2 EVSEs so I ended up charging to 100% before we left.

We stopped for dinner at the same place we had lunch on the way up. 21 minute lunch, battery was on the higher end so only got 26.7Kwh.

We then made a final stop before getting home because we would not make it otherwise. It was an 8 minute stop, 26.5Kwh, more than enough to get home. This was the only stop we made because we were in an EV. I also concede that we purposely made bathroom and lunch stops around fast charging locations.

P&C worked every time.

I especially like how under the PlugShare binary rating system, the OP's experience counts toward a perfect 10 for that station.

Re EVolve, my understanding is that those EA chargers are under a separate maintenance program than the rest of EA, and hence they are far more reliable.

Be sure to contact EA, they will reverse the charge if you were still in the complimentary period.

I get billed about 50% of the time. It’s very annoying.
