I don't have HUD, no.

A test drive shorter than 20-30 mins is useless in my humble opinion.

But I love how they don't update every ECUs from the get go, despite there being updates, in the hope that hey... maybe it magically fixes itself. Why not just updated everything from the get go? Their time is important, but ours is not?

I had a couple of 'map updates' over the last week then on Friday the nav rebooted twice during a 1 hour drive (no map, destination reset but PCM and music continued fine). Driving home Sunday the nav appeared to be running OK (map location and directions good) but the traffic info didn't update: the progress bar and congestion notices didn't change the whole journey. For context I had charge planner enabled but had sufficient charge to easily get me home so didn't need to stop en-route.

This morning I decided to experiment: I set the nav destination as my place of work (only 5 miles) and got the first direction in the HUD but the distance count-down didn't change and the direction remained long after I'd passed the junction. Meanwhile the map and current location updated fine on both PCM and dash. I then turned charge-planner OFF and instantly the turn instructions updated and remained good. I turned charge-planner ON again and saw the turn instructions stop/stall. However, this time they resumed correctly after a minute or so and continued to work for the rest of the journey.

So: although charge planner might not be the cause of the delays/stalls we're seeing in the nav it definitely seems to be having an effect.

Update from the journey to work this morning. A shorter journey today where I don’t usually suffer from a restart but do summer from frozen directions. I had zero issues this morning.

as I say, it may not be the charge planner, it may just be too many things to think about. So if charge planner being off doesn’t help you, what else can you turn off to help free up some ‘power’ to the nav?

Maybe we can run a test with the charge planner on but an equal process that saps ram/power from the nav being off and see if it has similar results

That’s the range planner thingy isn’t it. Not a bad shout
PIRM is on top of the planner.

Another thing that comes to mind: the Google Earth / satellite overlay

It’s worth trying but I tried running the nav just on the passenger screen without the overlay and it still melted in 10mins

But if it is a ram/memory thing… what did change in july (for me problems started around 20th if july)? The OTA for BSM came after the issues started. I can’t remember getting other updates last two months

And why only europe

I think you guys that "solved it" are just suffering from placebo. You had a lucky streak where it worked fine. USA cars have the same ECU & Units, this cannot be a hardware issue... And maps are actively updating, so it's likely not corrupted or "too big" maps either.

I will go on a 40km to an 40km back drive later tonight and try what you guys suggested also, disabling completely charging planner, but i don't see it working. I'm seeing the issue every day on my work commute, with 0 charging stops planned.

Just a simple route planning without any bells and whistles triggers the problems on my side. There is NOTHING to do for the driver.

I had an ARRB (guessing) recall thing on my app until around July, now it’s gone, and it’s not been great since. TBH I had my roof glass replaced in April and I always thought it was slower since then

And I promise it isn’t a placebo mate, it has made a difference however I don’t know yet if it’s temporary. This may be simply a plaster over a burst water main.
