(long post)
Just crossed Germany from West to East, and wanted to share a few facts/findings.
- speed : there are few unlimited portions of highways. and they seem very short at these unlimited speeds
Car (ST RWD) would reach 148mph quite easily. According to powermeter, it was using only 40% at this speed
- charging / preheat : i wanted to test different networks: Aral, EnBW, Ionity. No problem to connect, most of the time i was the only one charging. Charging speed (with preheating the battery) was always good, between 220 to 266 kW
For the last one, i decided to stop Nav, so to check if charging speed would be worse without preheat.
Battery was at 36C/97F without preheat, while it was close to 41C/106F with.
As one could expect at these temp, charging speed was identical: started at 240, went fast to 260 kW. Preheat is not needed when battery is more than 35/95.
- consumption: i’ll start from the very high, going to the (very) low. I wasn’t trying to break records, just driving according the traffic / speed limits. Driving with AC eco set to 21C (20’ aero wheels). Weather: no wind, outside temp around 29C / 84F
very high: 92kWh/100km or 0.7 mi/kWh close to top speed … that would mean a range <100km / 60 mi
normal: driving for 190km/120mi switching between range when speed limits to sport plus when unlimited
average speed of 132km/h (82mph) for a consumption of 19.5kWh/100 km (3.2 mi/kWh)
low: before reaching Germany, driving in Belgium/Netherlands. average speed of 107km/h (66mph) for 15,9 kWh/100km (3.9 mi/kWh)
(finally) very low: in/near Berlin. as low as 4.2 mi/kWh. Range near to 350 miles…
Overall, most important isn’t really the consumption, but the charging part: very fast and flawless ! And a decent network: plenty of 250kW+ stations on the road. if you miss one, next is never far.
Forgot to say: car is superb for such trips
