Hey guys

Just brought my Taycan home this afternoon, I plugged it in, Currently getting 8.4kW , is this normal with a Nema-14-50 home charger ?

Yes. You are likely using a 50A circuit that delivers 40A continuous which is 9.6kW. The Taycan displays the value that it receives after losses.

8.4 kW is common for “in car” kw from a 40/50 amp service - 9.6 is the “raw” power - 8.4 is the amount of power that actually lands in the battery after AC/DC conversion overhead - the porsche in car software displays the power the battery is receiving vs. the raw power it’s being sent...

if you’re using the Porsche charger it will show you on the charging screen how much power it’s sending the vehicle in terms of amps.
