Our Taycan has lost comms again. (4G showing as connected; most services not working; Google search disabled; traffic data unavailable; remote features offline etc. - note that this is a specific J1.2 problem). Sleep and restart didn’t fix. An overnight ferry and restart on a new network didn’t either.

And of course it happens at the moment we set off for a road trip UK->Denmark. Last time it was also on a big road trip. We can use CarPlay but it is so frustrating to lose features on the PCM.

Last time (and if I remember correctly the same for others on the forum with J1.2) they replaced the comm box. Took ages to get an appointment.

Does anyone know what is technically happening here? I find it hard to believe we have had two hardware failures. The symptoms
Look more like a SIM card that has expired or been deauthorised - not something they need to pull the car apart for. Are they replacing the comm boxes because they don’t know how to fix in software? Or are these comm boxes the J1.2 equivalent of the j1’s 22 kW charger, ie they have a design fault?

And I assume there is still no remedy for this issue short of OPC workshop time? Last time they had me log out and I could not log in again so I don’t want to try that.

You might look at statuses of Porsche Connect services in PCM settings to see which specific services are affected. I have had cases where only some of the services were not available. I later learned the problem was caused by Porsche services to some customers, not by my car.

Link to post - updated - which describes possible remedies for Porsche Connect outages: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/app-frozen-uk.16113/#post-247819
Although that post is intended for situation in which data connection to the car is down - no 4G/LTE symbol - the info might be helpful. It contains link to TSB which describes dealer steps for troubleshooting Porsche Connect problems.

Good luck.

So now (just as we begin the long drive from Denmark to UK - impeccable timing by this car again!) CarPlay is failing. I get a variety of different messages - the device is not CarPlay compatible, no device found, or a black CarPlay screen. I’ve done the usual things - forget and re-pair from both ends, reboot phone, connect by wire, let the car sleep etc. with no success.

Is CarPlay handled by the same comm box that has probably caused our loss of data connection? Or is this a whole separate fault?

My (J1.1) car lost all comms at the end of June: no LTE, no live traffic, no Spotify, etc. The app status is stuck in time: 52% SOC, 32 minutes preconditioning . I also lost Bluetooth so my phone doesn't connect but interestingly it won't connect over cable, either, so I suspect you're right that they're related. I finally have my car going into the OPC tomorrow - fingers crossed it's not a long job.

Edit: forgot to say the nav has also had a stroke! - it thinks I'm in the North Atlantic :giggle:

I’ve had a MY26 j1.2 on loan since the start of June while mine is having a new OBC (22kW downgrade 🥴) and it’s second cracked glass roof replaced. I’ve had 4 occurrences of the PCM getting stuck on the spinning circle and last week it went in to a really odd state of being logged out and saying ‘Profile management unavailable’ giving only an option to proceed with ‘no login’. It resolved itself after a couple of days.
