threats of warranty issues seem to be how a lot of dealers sell expensive work to you. E.g. all of this stuff about “checking drains“ which is optional but not optional. And very expensive..
Exactly this, and they do it once they've got your car. It makes shopping around a minefield, as what's included (or required) by different dealerships is all different and they seem to have differing names for the same job, which doesn't help. Sharp practice.

I squeaked last time and they knocked some cash off when i referenced a different quote that included something that may/may not have been the battery drain check. I will be double checking next time in detail.

It should be very clear from the manufacturer what is in the service and what is required - and the same everywhere. You wouldn't expect it (or tolerate it) if you were doing a ford focus!

Yes. When I brought my car to High Wycombe for a simple software job, without asking me they ran it through a machine which checks wheel alignment etc and photographs the underside.

From a safety perspective that's generally a good idea, but I felt that I was then going to be pressured into accepting further work on the spot - which apparently can cost thousands because one of the wheel adjustments requires removing bits of the car. They tried to get me to replace the undertray which was not necessary (another dealer said: "every Taycan on the road has scratches and holes there"). The machine did indeed tell them I needed wheel alignment, but when they ran it through again that turned out to be spurious. Whew.

Cheaper to let your tyres wear unevenly, and besides tracking will probably be out 2 days later when you hit a speed bump or pot hole.
