Exactly this, and they do it once they've got your car. It makes shopping around a minefield, as what's included (or required) by different dealerships is all different and they seem to have differing names for the same job, which doesn't help. Sharp practice.threats of warranty issues seem to be how a lot of dealers sell expensive work to you. E.g. all of this stuff about “checking drains“ which is optional but not optional. And very expensive..
I squeaked last time and they knocked some cash off when i referenced a different quote that included something that may/may not have been the battery drain check. I will be double checking next time in detail.
It should be very clear from the manufacturer what is in the service and what is required - and the same everywhere. You wouldn't expect it (or tolerate it) if you were doing a ford focus!
