Another useless bit of information I have recently stumbled upon is this site, which shows where the National Grid is deriving it's power - both live and historical.

The attractive thing with large PV sites is how quickly it takes to bring them online to produce power. It's a fraction of the time of other renewable sources. Just unfortunately the general main hurdle is planning process with is still a local government inconsistent bureaucratic nightmare.
