Every now and then the PCM touchscreen on the infotainment system just stops taking input. The haptic touchpad works fine and it can change what is shown on the infotatinment screen, but touching the infotainment does nothing. Obviously extremely annoying. Usually this can be corrected by shutting the car off and turning it back on. Well, today that stopped fixing it. I have turned the car off a half dozen times, armed the alarm, opened and closed the doors, and tried the two fingers in the top right corner to reset it. Nothing makes any difference. It simply does not work. Every now and then the top screen just does not turn on (rarely, but it has happened a couple of times).
It makes me wonder where they sourced these parts. Temu seems like the likely source based on the exceedingly low reliability. I also wonder if Porsche reads these forums or takes ANY feedback to heart. I absolutely love the way the car looks and drives and even the space and layout, but man their electronics really, really suck. If all I wanted was great electronics, I would have bought a Tesla, but I wanted a great driving car so I got a Porsche. I just erroneously assumed that in a $100K+ car that is all about tech, the subpar features would at least function as designed. Thank God they do not have a self driving Porsche or there would likely be a lot of casualties.
Anyhow, I am wondering if anyone else has had the screen completely lock up like this even after turning the car on and off and if they were able to get it working again

That is a fable. Tesla routinely violates elemental rules of engineering, QA and QC, and illustrations abound, including the use of consumer grade touch panels, an eMMC for non permanent storage, or currently the epidemic of failures affecting HW4.1.

Porsche and its suppliers have clearly gotten many things wrong, and i am wondering sometimes whether Taycan J1.1 issues are a conflation of poor FW robustness and excessive EMC susceptibility. Industry benchmarks are probably Hyundai/Kia and BMW, but certainly not the clown company.

Try the two finger reset on the top screen next time you get in the car. I find this can be done even when the top screen is not responding.

Also, avoid trying to clean the top screen with a cloth of any type when the the driver's door is closed and the car is starting to turn on. This always seems to lock my top screen. The only way I've found to clean that screen is to do so from the passenger side after the car has been off for a while.
