It feels like Porsche announcing the 718 EV is six days.

Looks no where near ready for prime time. :(

Pretty cool. This will be the only EV convertible on the US market when it comes here.

Are they just sitting there and blocking chargers?! :D

Looks exactly like the one I met at a Porsche Charging lounge last summer. But at least they are still doing something with the model since they still test it.

Ha, were probably told to “make them disappear someplace” to make room for the new stupid 911 Touring.

Of course another pricey 911. I think that was expected. It's also consistent with Porsche's official new strategy to milk their current technology, specifically the 911's, with high priced, exclusive cars.

Heck, even Tesla jumped on the exclusive collectibles bandwagon with the limited edition Model S and Model X (sold out now, though my invite was still live a week ago).

My two promotional takeaways from their promo video were:
1. Look at how amazing this car sounds! LISTEN TO IT!!!!
2. It accelerates at the perfect speed. Who would want to accelerate faster than this?

The first one sounded like standard Porsche marketing (though my friend, who's way more into cars than me, insists "no real car enthusiast thinks Porsche engines sound good" which was news to me).

The second statement was very interesting. While it is a departure from Porsche's traditional marketing (faster = better!), I do understand that now cars accelerate so quickly, there isn't much room to look cool by accelerating quickly, and maybe some folks don't like being teleported from 0-60mph in 2 seconds. And it may be physically more enjoyable for them to do so in 3.7 seconds.

But it is an interesting shift in marketing approach.

I have zero interest in the car other than the sick red+gold color combo (which isn't exclusive to that car, I know).
