Surround View with Active Parking Support Is fitted to my 2025 Taycan GTS, not seen it discussed anywhere but it’s so much better than my old GTS fitted with Surround View, much clearer brighter image from all cameras, even has the 3D image of the car that you can interact with to see all angles. This looks to be the only option now when specing a new build (in the UK at least). Should have been like this from the beginning, it’s actually useful now! Looked at a used Turbo GT built the end of last year which only has the surround view option, sort of put me off upgrading!

Personally I prefer, as do many others according to the responses here prefer the surround view over 3D, especially for the UK. Porsche annoyingly omit the curbside view when speccing the more expensive option. Much easier than faffing around with the screen and having a sideways view when going through a width restriction. I believe the surround view is now standard on some models hence why it's no longer an option. Have they reintroduced the curbside view with 3D view?

Agree with this. The normal surround view is much better in practice especially going through tight spaces in London - it’s saved me from alloys and side damage.

Just seems a load sharper / brighter than the other Taycans I’ve owned over the years.

You can move the car around in 3D with your finger

Wait, what does the older model screen look like? I specced this out on my '25 despite hearing how much hate the camera system gets, and I love it. I also don't have any issues with the standard forward/backward looking fisheye lens cameras - the lines make it very simple to know where the car is.

My MY23 GTS came from the factory with Surround View (KA6) which I upgraded to 3D "bird view" (using a dongle from Kufatec) so now it looks just like the images posted by @GTS UK, including the ability to swing the image around by swiping the screen..

My opinion on the 3D view is that it's not useful for looking around the corners (cross traffic). As a background, I presumed that the Taycan with surround view was sufficient for reverse corner view/cross traffic. It is not useful, I learned I have to angle the car in a particular way and it's still barely useable.

So I thought that the 3D surround view with parking assist will solve the issue and it does not. Recently I took a loaner Cayenne with the 3D view. I tested this, and the bumper view still is not sufficient to look around the corner. I believe that the angle of the lens is just not sufficient

Here are some photos. In reference to the right/passenger side, the 1st two photos shows the view, obviously it's not going to look around the Lexus SUV parked. You will see that edging out to the street still does not show a sufficient view on the right side. The park assist does warn of cross traffic (3rd and 4th pic)

Can you show me a car camera that does more of what you're expecting? I see those pictures and think "that's lovely angle viewing down the road." Doesn't look any worse than my Model Y which most people seem to love especially when comparing to the Taycan. I just don't see it. I must not be using the cameras for the specific use cases everyone else is.

My 22 GTS ST looks the same/similar (factory surround view and remote/active) park).

Remote/active park has also been surprisingly useful...I'm finding people park way too close in car parks, to the extent that on half a dozen occasions now I've been unable to get in the car. Remote connect and pull the car out sorts it.

I am comparing this to my 2022 X5's parking feature. Here it is on an X3, the angle is just a few degrees wider and the camera's mount is at an optimal location.

Ironically, I have the Macan EV loaner and the cross traffic camera is much better. I attribute this to a mounting location that's on the furthest point of the car.

Ultimately, I'd advise everyone to get the Parking Assist feature for the car for these situations, if not at least for the cross traffic sensor. Otherwise, you have to angle your car when you back out. to get a wider view.

I audibly said "oh wow" when I saw that first picture. I see now!
