Still slightly confusing ....how does this affect customers who placed there deposits back in 2021....but still have no build allocation, and there are many
They have had 2 price increases and 2 apr increases in a short period.
I agree, though it's not looking good. Tigerbalm's post about it relating to having a Commission Number makes it a bit more specific, but I don't recall ever getting one for my delivered vehicle. I wonder whether it corresponds to receiving a "Thank you for your order email"- which I also never got- or getting tracking updates on MyPorsche- which I only got once it entered production.

So i presume an order number is different from a commission number....i thought you received a commission/order verification number once deposit was paid and order intension was sent to Porsche HQ in Germany and onto the Porsche Sales & Vehicle Management System

I wasn't sure so Googled it and found it discussed on another site and it sounds like the Commission Number is given when the dealer has an allocated build slot.

Here is my current entry in the Sales & Vehicle Mgmt System showing the commission number – which I believe you get when your order goes V200 and gets an allocation in the factory for manufacture.

In my case it came about 3 months after I put in my order. I'm unsure about order numbers – its possible they are just a local dealer thing.

Not exactly. Deposit/order is really a local dealer thing/process*. Once they have your order they have to go find an allocation – which is when Porsche agree to build the vehicle.

In more ordinary times or for more ordinary vehicles – for example when I ordered my current Taycan – and a dealer has no problems finding an allocation – there might only be a day between making an order and getting an allocation. Unless you go looking for it – you are unlikely to be given your commission number – as it really isn't much use to you.

However – more recently – there are a lot more orders than the factories (and suppliers) have ability to fulfil and therefore hunting down an allocation can be much more difficult. It totally depends on the dealer – their size – their location – blind luck – cancellations – etc – as to how long it takes to get one.

* There is a V70 status – where a dealer without an allocation – lets Porsche know that they have a real customer for a car and have taken a deposit. But with this status there is no commitment yet from Porsche to build a car. It's just giving them some insight into interest levels and assists with their capacity planning.

Thats very helpful but what i dont understand is how someone who placed an order in 2021 still has no commission number or allocation number....you got yours after approx 3 months....he placed an order 4 months before you and has nothing.....its seems that when you actually place your order means nothing regarding the timescale on when you get an allocation......confusing !

That explains it clearly......luck of the draw and which dealer......doesnt seem fair

So maybe they should reduce the deposit amount to £1k and then when an allocation is available ask for the balance or lose the allocation

Porsche have been sitting on a lot of deposits for a long time......good for them i suspect

The specifics are totally opaque and difficult to understand. Here are the things that I think played a role in my order:
  • There is only one Porsche dealer in my country and (since Brexit) they are also now the country importer.
  • So since Brexit they went from being a branch offshoot from UK to having their own "country" support team in Porsche AG.
  • This is my third Porsche order in four years and I make simple deals (with no financing) and pay the invoices on-time.
  • Countries get their yearly allocations around May and I had my order in March – so that when they were negotiating – they knew they had a firm Turbo S order waiting for one. It helped them +1 the allocations during discussions.
  • The timing of my order wasn't random – it was done in conjunction with the dealer – so as to be as successful as possible.
  • Turbo S's are rare in Ireland due to high taxes/costs – so I'm chasing down an allocation from a relatively small audience. Its not the same for the non-Turbo models.
  • I am on first-name, direct mobile number terms with the owner of the Irish importer/dealer and so I am a real person rather than just a customer number to them as an individual.
tl;dr: Sometimes, being in a small country helps!

That's really good intel. I suppose since pandemic, Brexit, supply chain issues/war etc - the whole buying process has become stretched out, exposed and far more convoluted than 'normal' times. Matters which you would take for granted in normal times.

My UK OPC got back to me just now - following his earlier advice for a slightly earlier lock-down - I did avoid the interest and price hikes - being in Scheduled for Production status already. - Phew!

Just had email from PRG saying my price will stay the same. Increase only applies to new orders and orders without a build allocation!
Yes, I've just had this confirmed by my dealer too. If you have a build slot confirmed then your price is fixed. It's only new orders that are affected. Phew!

Not much solace for the poor customers that placed orders in 2021 and still have no build slot confirmed.....many on this forum

Here in germany they said if you dont have scheduled production slot you will pay new price, for cars with a already fixed slot its an individual decision and there will not be any goodwill from porsche these days
