Hi, just about to refill the washer fluid ahead of winter for the first time and saw that Porsche recommends fluid that is safe for plastic headlights …

1. Does anyone know what the potential issues could be with plastic headlight lenses? Is a particular fluid ingredient a problem?
2. Any idea if Prestone Extreme is suitable?
3. Any other recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Not aware that any Taycans actually came fitted with a headlight washer system? Are you on a 2024 model, perhaps?

No washer system on my MY24 CT4S so even more puzzling … maybe just a generic warning that they didn’t bother customising for the Taycan manual on the Porsche app?

That would be my bet, as well.

could be a precaution for the heat insulated windscreen, there is a special coating on it.

This gets me thinking, I wonder if the salt they throw on the road is Porsche Approved. That sh*t gets everywhere.

I couldn’t resist checking if there was such thing as Porsche Genuine washer fluid.

What is this, like a 2000% premium? Can anyone guess the ingredients?

It can’t be unicorn tears as I think they went into this one which is about $15 for 1/4 of the quantity of the the above …

As it turns out when we bought the current house almost 10 years ago there was a tiny bottle of this stuff left in the garage by the previous owner … little did I appreciate it was worth more than an 18 year old single malt scotch … starting to feel guilty I didn’t call him to let him know, haha

Ah yes. That’s the concentrated tears of a unicorn foal. Your windshield must sparkle with each squirt!
