I saw this on an advert for a Taycan. What is it showing? I've not seen this on my GTS.

it shows which motor is currently engaged. in this case rear.
this has been most likely removed in newer firmware updates, as I've for one never seen this screen either in the 4CT (which is dual motor)

This is the front/rear torque split display that has, sadly, been deleted since the 2022 software update.
I found it the most interesting of all the displays :(

For those of us who have never driven the car with this graphic available - what's the typical "normal driving" (as in, not spirited, just standard drive to the shops) split front and rear then? Does the car predominantly use the rear and engage the front when more power is asked of it?

Yes correct. Always rear en front when more power is needed. You can see this in the drive menu.

AWD display now deprecated in the Taycan and replaced with an animated graphic on the PCM under Trip.

Blue = power
Green = regen
Nothing = coasting

It changed after the major uPdate software upgrade for MY20 - MY22 cars.

Predominately rear wheel drive (depending on ambient etc).

Range mode used to be predominantly the front motor on AWD models but now rear dominates.

Sorry, should have been more specific. What can I see in the drive menu as it relates to where the power is delivered?

If you chose the drive menu you get a picture of the car showing the power distribution between front and rear wheels and it also shows regeneration.

Thanks. I'll look more closely next time I'm in the car!

I read an article on Rivian owners complaining about their front tires going out in less than 6k miles, well below their rears. Apparently, their version of range mode only powers the front wheels. Couple that with a lowered ride height and slight toe. Good bye front tires.

+1 Porsche.
