    Which is complete bullshit; as between the cayenne and the panamera is exactly why I placed my deposit.
    It’s what I’m willing to afford for an electric car.

    :clap: Exactly what I was thinking. They’ve invested over $1B in electro-mobility and there’s no way it’s not going to command premium pricing to start recouping that investment. Problem is, where do they go from here with further EV model pricing? Will the Macan EV carry a massive premium? Will the supposed 928 replacement, Taycan coupé/whatever, be even more than a Carrera? I can see the Taycan 4S being close to $100K well-speced, which lines up well with the Model S, but getting up above $130/140K, especially if the economy continues in the US the way it is, will make it a very tough sell beyond the initial fan base in 2020. I want an EV and I need to find a bigger ride as my kids are getting too big for the rear seats in my 911, but at this point a CPO Panamera 4 e-Hybrid is looking like a better option (although nowhere near as good looking).

    The price creep on this car has been astounding. I’m a huge Porsche fan but this is too much. I bet the S version will approach 125-130 k with reasonable options with middling performance in comparison to Tesla. And I’m no Tesla fan. It’s disappointing

    So, even if it start @99k€ that is, what $114k ? Add a few options and you’re @ 130+. Wow. Forasedan?

    I came back from my Porsche dealer early today. Finally brought the wife and she is on-board for a car of some kind.
    long story short: My salesperson told me he will be sent for training on the Taycan this July.
    He was not able to tell me anything else about the car save that the speculation on pricing here is inaccurate.
    He also said he only knows of two Taycan models and was not informed of Anything else.
    There is no final word of the trim names.

    Also, unrelated: the bmw dealership across the street has the new BMW Z4 outside. Very attractive in person unlike the Supra I’ve seen.

    " U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday declared that some imported vehicles and parts pose a national security threat but delayed a decision for as long as six months on whether to impose tariffs to allow for more time for trade talks with the European Union and Japan."

    Looks like the Taycan have now already have been declared a national security threat and may have a 20 to 35% tariff! Strategy to get people to buy American may work, as if the taycan has the 911 pricing, plus 25% tariff, I will be buying a Tesla, also a great car!

    This time Trump is tying the negotiations to agricultural tariffs as well as vehicle tariffs. The US government gives massive subsidies to farmers (welfare to farmers and corporate welfare to agribusiness), so Trump cannot win a court case at the World Trade Organization for lack of free trade with agricultural products in Europe, so threatening tariffs is the only bargaining chip the USA has. Normally, countries that are part of the WTO believe there is unfair trade, that country can bring it up the WTO for arbitration, but because of the US farm subsidies, the US can not win any case.

    If these tariffs are indeed hit in December, it will significantly impact Porsche, which has NO manufacturing facilities in the USA and there will be lots of people like me that will not purchase a Porsche.

    No it’s not.

    “Tell me, what will the price range for the Taycan be?

    Blume: We will offer the Taycan with two battery sizes, and will be starting with the larger package; the entry-level version with smaller battery will start at under €100,000. And just as with our combustion engines, there will also be many attractive extras for the Taycan. “

    That’s the exact quote from the official Porsche newsroom. Under 100 and assuming anything else is not factually correct.

    and they never said nor should we have assumed or assume that the “turbo” version will be under 100000. so the pricing without options hopefully still fall within the scope of what was originally expected. since they also only talk of 2 variants.......

    I mean I don’t disagree that is possible, I just think that’s not very professional or honest of Porsche if they do that.
    I have no doubt the higher trim can exceed the “between cayenne and panamera “ price point, I just feel the first trim we are getting is what we are seeing and the price they are vaguely referring too.
    Who knows though.
