Hi taycan forum,
The charge port on the taycan turbo won’t release. I’ve Noticed:

Passenger side AC/Dc charge port :
The status light on the charge port round button won’t light, or respond when pressed.
Doors unlocked, doors open : no change
PMCC or charge point charger: no change.
Cable is stuck !

the driver side AC only charge port works .

The car does charge and accepts power !
i am able to get the cable out through the pcm menu.

What’s going on, is the charge port button dead, it’s so weird. Every thing else is working.

anything to diagnose or reset?

SOLVED --------
Dealer replaced the charging port. It was processed as a warranty service.
Unfortunately nothing to report for future DIY solutions.

It was a hardware issue.

Using the PCM to disconnect the charge cable worked.
Using the Sting in the Fender was not tried, but that is undesirable vs a push of a button in the PCM.

Have you tried to unlock the cable through the PCM? Go to the charging page then press the ... on the right side and then unlock

It will unlock through the PCM Menu option. So the charge port works. The ring light does not work, neither does the button. this is weird.

I think this needs a Porsche center visit to get it fixed

Read the instruction manual on how to do the manual charging cable release.

There's a thing you pull near the door hinge.

It's a little confusing since pulling it pulls an override switch which tells the port to unlock. After that pull out the cable as you would normally.

Sometimes the connector might be a bit light, so make sure you pull out the cable in a straight motions. Maybe a tiny wiggle to help loosen it. The sign that this is the case is if you press the release button on the cable and you don't feel any strong resistance. If you feel a strong resistance, that means the cable is still locked and you need to pull the emergency release cable.

After you've pulled the cable, you can actually fish it back in yourself. I've done it before. People think you need to get the techs to do it for you, but if you have a little patience, you can just fish it back in.

In summary, steps should be...

1) Press the unlock button on your remote
2) Press the round release button with the LEDs.
3) Wait for the charge port light that shines on the top of the charging cable to light up. That's your indicator that it's unlocked.
4a) Press the release button on the cable and pull out.
4b) If you press the button and feel a lot of resistance, go yank on the emergency release cable in the door jam and repeat 4a.
4c) If you press the button and there's no resistance and you still can't pull it out. You have a overly tight cable. Wiggle the cable lightly as you pull.

What happens when you press down on the release button on the charging cable. Does it go down or is there a firm resistance? I'm assuming your priority right now is to get the cable disconnected?

Did you guys not read the original post? He can get the cable out by going through the PCM. It is the button that doesn’t work

The cable is locked in by the servo / solenoid.
the round button does not command its disengagement.

Exactly - I had a weird related incident once I managed to finagle my way out of - I had charged the car overnight and once at the car in the AM, pressed the end charge button and without realizing I had gotten no white light, removed the charger plug with zero resistance and stored it.

I then backed the car out - was in a bit of a hurry and knew the car would close the charge port door automatically on moving (as opposed to what I normally do 99% of the time that is simply swipe my fingers across the fin to close - I have the electric doors) BUT an error pops up in the dash and tells me there is a charge port door issue (actually said it was the RHS DC/AC charge port- weird!!).

Jumped out and noticed the AC (LHS) charge door had only closed half way and was stuck - more weird! After mucking about with on/off car and PCM and working PCM vs exterior controls I instead after initiating another open/close by a finger swipe, once it reversed (opened fully), basically stuck the plug into the car port as it attempted to close again - resulted in the charge port door stopping and sitting on the plug (I know not exactly ideal) - with plug in the green ring lit up as it should BUT by then pressing the charge release button I got the proper full White indicator ring. It released the charging plug and the door then closed fully.

So as with the OP, when I first pressed the charge stop button I realized immediately after as stated that I did not in fact get a white ring but the plug still released no problem! Perhaps automatically releases when you reach your requested charge (85% in my case?). Either way - when teh door was stuck half way, numerous presses of the charge release button never brought the white ring back despite a clear audible noise on pressing this button. I was able to activate the door by wiping my fingers under the fin but it would simply reverse back up and attempt to close again, every time getting hung-up half way and stopping.

Hence the solution by 1) putting the plug back in (despite having the door try to close on it which it did), 2) getting a green charge light and 3) pressing the charge release button to get a white light and this basically opened the door and I closed it the usual way with success.

Apologies ridiculously long explanation but quite a weird sequence/event. I will be taking the car in for the ANA6 and the PCM uPdate soon and will have the techs look at this button's response to see if any internal errors are showing.

FWIW, my 2022 Turbo has the same issue. No white LED ring around the passenger-side cable release button, so the cable is essentially "stuck" unless I pull the manual release string. I've not yet tried using the PCM, but having read this, now I will. The manual string method really sucks.

This thread is pretty old- did you ever find resolution?

I had this issue in various forms last year. ultimately the dealer replaced the charging port door sensor (power doors) and it has not happened again
