Coasting is better and longer when in Normal drive mode

Has anyone noticed that the Taycan seems to coast better and longer when set to Normal drive mode? Seems to me when I have my car in Individual mode, the car does not seem to freewheel as far and actually seems to drag and slow down just a bit.

In Normal the Taycan will coast at the same speed for 10-15 seconds when on flat ground and will quickly gain speed on downhill grades.

And yes, before anyone asks, I have confirmed 100% that my individual mode DOES NOT have regeneration turned on nor set to Auto.

Perhaps it’s just me but wondering if others seem to experience the same sensation when driving on the highway?

No logical reason for this that I can think of. If anything it should coast further in Range mode due to the effect of aerodynamics (assuming you have air suspension).

What settings do you have on Individual? If you have lowered the car then that may explain it.

At what speed are you comparing coasting distance?

This should be easy to test in real world? Same strip of tarmac, same speed, few runs in different modes and you have a result

I have noticed it feels like it costs better with auto-regen off than it does when coasting with auto-regen on. I haven’t noticed a difference between drive modes, all else ring the same.

It would...the recuperation is generated via the motors and or brakes and so when enabled it will slow the car down due to the braking friction caused.

No recuperation enabled means NO motor or disc braking and relies on friction from the tyres etc to slow the car down.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. As you know, with auto recoup enabled, the car will coast if nobody is in front of you or will do recuperation braking if someone is in front of you. What I'm saying it that when it is coasting, it doesn't seem to coast as well as when you have auto recoup completely off.

Yes, will have to find a long flat strip of tarmac and do some testing. Also will test in auto today to gauge that result.

Can't say as I have noticed between modes but TBH the vast majority of my driving is already in Normal mode (recup/autoregen off) and my car by default retains both the Low setting and recup settings I drive with all the time (no need for Individual setting to retain this). That said I would agree that the coasting performance really does surprise me at times on lower gradients , quite impressive.

That's what's posted but I think it may be incorrect / muddled as in the world of Mr Spock, "it's illogical".?

One of those things that I've wondered is does the Taycan get low enough to ground to start creating ground effects. If it does, would it be better to raise the car just enough to prevent it. Other question is why does range mode also activate the spoiler. Is to disrupt more of the air flow to reduce drag or are they trying to create down force to compensate rear grip loss?

Need someone to just tape a bunch of strings to the back of the car and then have a chase car to observe.

Correct - lower seems to have more drag. Normal mode which sits higher seems to coast more freely. Opposite of what I would expect with less air under the car.
