I've seen the Porsche white glove installation of the hood ornament in a few marketing videos, it usually shows something like this:
Porsche Taycan Is your hood ornament straight? 1688622557736

I recently looked at mine and couldn't help but notice that while the top of the badge seems to align perfectly, the bottom seems off:

The green line is what appears to be the center line of the hood indent, while the red one is what is the center of the hood badge. I think the hood indent is not quite matching the badge. Bad factory QC, or hoods for marketing materials get hand built?

Minor gripe of course, but I'm curious, is yours straight?

Mine is straight as far as my eyes go.

(But I had to expand two holes in the front numberplate by 1,5 mm to be able to fix it straight.)

It is well-known that Porsche biases the bottom slightly to the driver's side because that's the side you approach from. In the UK, Aus, etc. you will see it biased to the other side. And also, this isn't a hood ornament. Please! Mercedes (used to) have hood ornaments. This is an "emblem."

Don’t touch it! That imperfection will make your Taycan collectible!

Just checked them on my cars and they are perfectly straight. Which is good as that would bug the crap out of me! :whew:

I think I'd need a new hood for that, or a custom asymmetric badge. If I was to straighten the bottom, the top would look wonky, which would be worse.

I replaced my emblem with a monochrome one. I had to place it the same orientation as the original (or else the top would not be aligned which is visually worse). As long as one is not looking at it very up close, it looks perfectly straight.

I think that a crooked badge could have a significant impact on wind resistance, possibly reducing 0-60 by as much as 10%, or, even more depending on the crookedness of the badge. I also would very careful on aggressive cornering. That extra wind resistance could affect the airflow during turn-in possibly altering the balance of the car. In extreme cases, the Taycan would handle much more like a rear engined 911 and become tail heavy much like the early 935 turbos. Careful, be very, very careful.?
