IMO the Taycan has a mushy brake feel especially when going slow. Its a learning curve. So in short yes.

As stated, the Taycan brakes don't feel especially firm, but this is a function of the regenerative vs friction brakes and not related to the air suspension.

4S air suspension (2024 model year) is the perfect balance - in town the car wafts along; on the bigger roads where it is safe to do so, it has all the power that sensibly you could ever wish for. My only (very minor) regret is that Recuperation isn't "On" by default. When Recuperation is engaged, the brake feel, once you're used to it, is good and progressive. Forget all other EVs, Taycan is the tops!!

You can configure the Individual drive mode and set recuperation to On. I use this mode for my daily driving with recup on Auto and I'm adapting to how it functions; almost like adaptive cruise control in my previous ICE.

That isn't brake recuperation though.

I haven't driven a RWD Taycan but obviously there won't be any regenerative braking available on it for the front axle so all front braking will be normal hydraulic, though it will have to blend with a brake pedal feel that will be just braking the rear wheels at low to moderate deceleration levels using regeneration.

There is no reason why brake feel will differ between steel and air suspension.

Yes, brake recuperation is one of the settings available under Individual drive mode. Perhaps we're talking about different things?

We must be.

Brake regeneration is built into the Taycan and is not user adjustable, there is just the blending of friction brakes at high deceleration built into the controller by Porsche engineers.

There is a 2 stage recuperation setting available on a steering wheel switch which gives the ability to coast (default), simulate the sort of lift off behaviour of an IC engined car and also an auto setting giving a variable effect depending on obstructions in front of the car.

After playing around a bit I stick with coasting and regenerative braking only by the brake pedal algorithm.

What?! They’re using air suspension on Porsche from the factory now?! Clearly this is the end of days!!!

Too many to list. Includes a MY23 Taycan RWD

I have an RWD with air suspension.

Don't really see any relation between the suspension and the braking.

In the beginning I wondered how the hell Porsche engineers would manage to brake a car using the rear axle and maintain stability and then blend in the brakes.

Then I remembered my early childhood in Germany. Most if not all bicycles back in my time would brake with the rear wheel that was actuated by the pedals (aka back pedal force) and not really the forward brakes. It worked fine and actually was quite fun if you wanted.

After getting the car, I have no complaints. It works fine and you don't even notice it's braking with the rear axle. Maybe you feel it "ducking" more than "bowing" but it's negligible.

Regarding the brake feel, I quickly got used to the transition. It's barely noticeable.

Where you notice it most is when you start the car for the first time on the day. The first couple of brake events don't use regen at all (to clean the rotors) so you feel a "gap" the first cm or half inch of the brake pedal where it isn't braking at all. Some people even perceive that "gap" as if the car accelerates by itself while you're braking but it's psychological. You'll get used to it.

In the last 6 months of ownership, I've out braked anything out there. The car stops on a dime. I would worry more about lose items inside the cabin then mushy or insufficient braking.

When I brake, I don't check the space left in front of me but the rear mirror hoping the person behind me is able to brake in time.

Side note@Raek. Can you do a long term review of having lowering links? I been wanting to add them but im a bit apprehensive.
