Hi

has anyone looked at the Porsche charging rates, mine was 30p kWh for 3 years and a few days ago it automatically changed to Porsche charging plus at 39p kwh

I contacted customer services and they said they had upgraded everyone.

may I request you look at yours and tell me if that is the case.
Surely they can’t just change it I’m in a three year contract

I made sure that I had the original ticked when mine rolled over to year two as they had the plus ticked but luckily I spotted that. For me the original is far better than the new plus version.

Just looked and as well as 31p per kWh. There is now a per minute charge of 33p. Sure that wasn’t there before for ionity

That is the Plus version charge - they seem to automatically ’upgrade’ you on renewal unless you spot that the Plus is ticked and change it to the original before the annual renewal takes place.

It appears according to them everyone is on the new one, I’m hoping I get a few more responses before I challenge them as I knew they were fobbing me off….

no names will be mentioned

For Ionity there was no per minute charge at all previously. It was simply 31p per kWh.
What are they playing at ?

Surely there’s a cooling off period

This is my current charging contract and will stay the same until 2026 unless I click on the upgrade to the charging plus contract or don’t check each anniversary that the plus is not ticked which I believe is the default.

Thank you! That is a very good spot. I’m 9 months in (so over two years to go), but it ‘renews’ annually and was defaulting to renewing on to the ‘new’ plan - very very sly trick I feel! I’ll have to remember to check after my anniversary to see if again next year it’s going to try and default to the Plus plan.

Also, I just spotted it’s not aligning with a full year. My contract was from 27 September 2023 to 6 October 2026 - yet my annual ‘renewal’ was set for 1st August, when it would have shifted me to shit plan!

My suggestion would be to contact your local dealer or customer services, they’ve obviously had a glitch on the system and then messed things up. Hoping no one realises - not what you expect from a premium brand. I’ve complained to customer services and copied in Krishna Bodhani as that’s the only way they do
something as I just get fobbed off with that’s the tariff for everyone which clearly is not the case

I have written to the CEO as I was told the pricing was the same for everyone and everyone in GB was moved over to the new prices, which is not true as we can see from these posts. Porsche must think we are stupid, they should alert us if they are changing things and also be transparent.

I feel and agree with the comment a sly move.

Let's see what they come back with asa manager at support said it can't be changed and applies to everyone which I have challenged.

I tried to charge yesterday at IONITY and found my contract had expired. Had to renew on the spot and now on the plus contract it seems. maybe I didn’t notice a plus box but I feel a bit conned. Will be contacting my dealer tomorrow am, hate these nickel and dimeing things that everyone uses these days

I contact customer services and had to write to the CEO and know it’s back to Ionity at 30p. So if they fib you off you can tell them it is reversible

Here is my reading of the situation. Up until recently new car buyers who opted in to the Porsche Charging Service were entitled to:
  1. Free membership for 3 years.
  2. Service was a yearly contract and auto-renewed up to three times for free.
  3. As each renewal was entering into a new contract with a one-year duration, there was the possibility that pricing could change – but historically that didn't happen.
Now new owners get signed up to a Porsche Charging Service plan with the following characteristics:
  1. Free membership for 3 years.
  2. Service is now monthly and auto-renews 36 times for free (12 months x 3 years).
  3. At each renewal you are entering into a contract for the month. Each new contract renewal time offers Porsche the change to change the pricing and/or terms.
Additionally, they are offering existing users the option to move out of their yearly plan and onto this monthly rolling contract. They are offering existing users two plan options: "Porsche Charging Service Taycan" and "Porsche Charging Service Plus" with various pricing characteristics.

At a high-level Porsche Charging Service Taycan is very close to the original year-long contract options – but with some tweaks around the growing Porsche Charging Lounges (which was at IONITY prices but now are at DC prices unless you sign up to the Plus plan).

On the surface, it looks like Porsche Charging Service Plus is a price increase – unless they continue to add other networks (such as Tesla or FastNed or similar) to the Plus's "preferred charging price" option in the future. If they did, it might start to make more sense.

It also opens up the Dealer charging network at "IONITY" prices where as on the legacy plan they were billed at the regular DC prices – a ridiculous situation now corrected.

Where folks are saying that they are renewing on "1 Aug" – I believe this only happens if you optionally decide to move to this new monthly renewal plans. It is picking the first of upcoming month for the start date. If you don't sign up – nothing changes as you are currently in a year-long contract option that they can't just terminate.

The monthly rolling contract offers Porsche ability to increase (or decrease - ha!) prices much more frequently than the current yearly regime allows them.

It is unclear to me if customers will still be able to access the legacy-like monthly "Porsche Charging Service Taycan" plan by the time the first three years are up.

The wording on the site today suggests it will – but we'll see.

Edit: Is it a case that those of use with another year or two of the legacy yearly contracts are no longer being offered them when our current year is up? And are being bounced into one of these new monthly plans with the "plus'" one being the new default where as the "Taycan" plan matches the original legacy plans closer?
