@Maelstrom - I'm still clinging to my conspiracy theory: one reason you haven't experienced a thermal warning could be that the issue occurred at the dealership under their care. Now that I think of it: zero warnings prior and immediate warnings driving after reassembly would be evidence in support of that scenario.
If anything, any taycan owner should take pics of under their car before going to a dealer from now on...

This is beyond stupid. Especially when dealers like that exist...

Absolutely. I've been thinking about how to get high quality photos of the underbody panel without a lift at home. Selfie stick? Panoramic shot using a skateboard? Driving over one's phone while recording video?

Any photography buffs have a solution for this?

Here is a video that was linked from another thread on our battery's teardown.

Maybe put your phone on the ground at an upwards angle on "wide" camera mode centered in front of the car. Then drive over it slowly.

Hopefully that should be enough?

The UVEye system is in place to prevent exactly this

Trying to get my bearings while watching that and looking at the picture where it shows the 3.33mm to see if that spot is in one of the places where there aren't any cooling lines

Porsche Taycan Underbody Protection Panel damaged. Batteries and coolant lines need inspection. $72.5K replacement & labor cost. Dealership is Tom Wood in Indiana unnamed

Elon also claimed the doors were bullet proof, something since disproven by people shooting at their Cybertrucks.
I know about the glass.

But I have not seen any bullets that actually went through the body panels. The were dented of course but if there had been any passangers they would not have been harmed! There were some panels that split that I have seen where several bullet hid close by.

Still an impressive panel in my mind

I think you mentioned that earlier in the thread but now I can't find the post. Did your dealership have this in place such that there are timestamped photos of your car's underbody before it was taken into service?
Yes to all of the above - it's actually a very impressive system

ok, not much movement today, but had a couple of adult beverages last night and I've decided to get Porsche to put my car back together while this saga is going on.
Logic behind this - they 'claim' the coolant line is pinched hence the replacement HV Battery - there's no evidence of this, hell, if I hadn't taken the car in then I wouldn't know and the car isn't telling me anything. I'm not saying I'm not going to fix, I am, but I want my car and to weigh up my options whilst the back and forth between dealer and insurance is going on, I will of course get a module and monitor those temps.
The thing that is most interesting is that it's the bottom of the HV tray that seems to be incredibly soft and if a dent that small 'pinches' a coolant line then there's multiple issues here - why isn't it a serviceable part? My dealer has stated numerous times that to replace that tray means the whole HV Battery as you cant order it seperately....this is what I'm going to try and find!!!
On another note - I did have the thought of doing a YouTube video on this, but would need some assitance as video editing really isn't my thing lol (sad as I do work in IT lol) - open to suggestions but this would be a way of getting the message out
It does seem the HV tray is available as a separate part:

Should be a straightforward swap. You can look at the coolant lines once it's off

Not gonna lie I took a good look under mine after hearing about this. I was able to see under it pretty well by parking on level 2 of a garage and then peeking under it from the ramp below.

I think a lot of us must be doing this!

I raised the suspension, drove onto some makeshift timber ramps and had a good look. Smooth as a baby's bum. It seemed pretty tough steel too, but not sure how it would cope with large rocks or other things in the road you can't see (especially at night). If it dents easily, being only 5" from the road surface in normal mode doesn't feel good.

Take a look at how much Tesla charges for a Model S battery pack. Granted, it is an older post and slightly smaller battery at 90kWh.

Total: $19,560 including $360.75 for labor

I would guess that the newer 100kWh batteries would be $25-30k in parts.

Even with the "Porsche tax", $72.5k for a HV battery replacement is not acceptable.

@Maelstrom, have you contacted Porsche customer service? Wondering if you can open a case and escalate.

That Tesla quote is downright reasonable by comparison.
