I suspect they are simply prepping the crowd for the 911 EV. Because that’s what track people who like EVs want. Not a 4 door 911 EV with disabled back seats :)

The people who want the TOP model. For those, the price isn't that much of a premium over a Turbo S honestly.
Best part of the Turbo GT is it caps you at options. So it's almost the same price as Turbo S

People tell me the wing causes slight understeer in high speed corners, may just wait for the GT Touring.
Yeah except, everyone then will have a GT Touring making the wing a rare variant. The Taycan GTS RS will be bee's knees

Exactly that with me, why have anything other than the top model
Not that my opinion matters, but the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package completely sucks. Saw it today at the dealership and…

- No rear seats on a 4 door car is lame. And that carbon in the back is so flimsy that you can’t put anything on it (ie suitcase).
- truck impractical with that hump and non fold.
- no leather on doors or dash.
- standard push charger flap feels cheap.
- door sills cheap plastic.
- no trunk close button.
- ugly purple. In person, this color sucks.
- no sunroof.
- no sport chrono?!?!
- charger port only on the right side.
- expensive as f-ck.

Don't waste your time worrying about it if you don't like it.

Good… you might want to wait for the Taycan GT RS with Weissach Package… spy footage shows a few more parts removed making it the best, and most exclusive version yet:

The Weissach package costs $33,500 on the GT3, but it costs $0 on the Taycan Turbo GT. Huh.

Porsche options are notoriously profitable. All of that low-production-volume custom carbon costs Porsche serious money to produce, so I am sure that Porsche makes LESS profit when someone orders the Taycan Weissach option. Porsche can't be too worried about getting too many orders!
I take all of this as acknowledgement that the package has no value to almost all Taycan buyers and exists primarily so that Porsche has "bragging rights" when quoting its performance numbers. A few people order it, Porsche says that its Ring times therefore count, and we all move on.

A four-door car with two usable seats - Nonsense! One wonders if, in future years, a Weissach car will be worth less because it's such such a silly configuration, or worth more because it's so rare. I want to say the former, but then I remember that it's Porsche collectors we're talking about here.
Original Bentley SSport in 2010 had just the 2 front seats also, more sense since it was a 2 door anyway.
Bentley heard complaints from customers so they quickly brought a back seat and the resale values were always higher for the latter.
I expect similar with Taycan.
Turbo GT will never become a regular at tracks, the wear on brakes and tires would be too cost prohibitive so some may end up being tracked once or twice at best.
I have 2k miles on mine at the moment and at this point I am convinced it is the best daily driver I have ever had, all I need now, is a nice set of Winter wheels.
Weissach package is just too impractical and rough to use it like the regular TGT, you still need a bit of comfort and luxury when dealing with a real life driving.

How is it too impractical and rough? A bit less sound deadening (on a car that makes no noise) and you have to open your own boot?

Had the privilege to drive both.
2 seater has more road noise, just feels not as smooth and refined like standard Turbo GT or even Turbo S.
I tried to be clear, I am talking about daily driver usability only, in which regard Weissach is definitely inferior to GT.
When you are looking at these cars from the occasional tracking point of view then of course the “W” is superior.
The point I tried to make is that even though Weissach is better on the track, it still does not make much sense having to deal with so much weight destroying brakes and tires very quickly.
Anyone able to buy these cars is most likely also able to obtain a car that would be much more suitable for any track rat to have fun with, a GT3, RS or any Cayman for example.
In my opinion (and many others), Porsche brought a car no one ( with a few exceptions) has asked for anyway.
A bit pointless exercise done only with the purpose to show that Porsche still rules at the Ring.

When you say the Turbo GT is more refined, does that mean the ride is stiffer? Or how the power is delivered?

quieter, smoother, not stiffer for sure, more sound insulated, feels like a true luxury car with great ride.
