Get the VIN and call a Porsche dealer. There are 3 current battery recalls but at this point only one is of immediate concern. ARB5 applies to 193 vehicles where "data analytics showed data anomalies in the high-voltage battery modules." Dealers were notified on October 16th so a VIN search should show if your potential acquisition is subject to that recall. Personally I wouldn't touch a car known to have bad modules. Why bother with a known headache? ARB6 and ARB7 cover every Taycan sold in the US and produced through February 1, 2024. This group needs to be monitored for the potential of bad modules showing up. A risk shared by every Taycan on the road. But at least you won't immediately be driving a charging limited car with known bad cells headed to the dealership for what will likely be a months long repair.

Oh, and you mentioned not liking the charging network. It's not really much better. More options are opening up but reliability is still spotty. YMMV, but I'm a frequent road-tripper and it's always an unknown pulling into any DC charger.

Thanks I have called the Porsche Dealer who took the lemon law buyback and they said the car should be fine thought the ARB5 recall means that this car *does* have bad cells that need replacing... The question is HOW MANY bad cells and more importantly HOW LONG until Porsche can replace them. Assuming bad cells puts me in line for service ahead of the 27k customers that merely need monitoring equipment updates I'm good with it. But if I'm stuck at 80% for 1+ year that begins to be a nuisance I'd not be happy with that, though if they have to replace the entire battery a year from now that wouldn't be too bad a deal IMO.

I won't be using this car for many long trips so I'm not out of the game here, but I will certainly be ready to drop the cool idea quickly if there is *ANYTHING* else out of line when I go to look at/drive the car.

Anyone know if I can use my OBDLink MX+ BT OBD tool and some scan software to look at any more detail on cell health?

Thanks for the input. I've had decent service experience with Porsche Burlington though none after delivery for an EV
I didn't buy from Porsche Burlington, but that's where I get service. They booked my brake hose replacement on request, ordered the parts, and took the car in when the parts arrived a week later. They had it overnight. No issues. I also got the new charger cable and the PMCC recode during that visit.

Yes, search this forum for how. CarScanner is the most commonly used option by forum members here. There is another one which recently came out (the vendor is on this forum, sorry the name escapes me at the moment).

Yes you can use it to check for voltage and level of charge differences between the cells to identify outliers. This is not a scientific procedure, but I look for any cells that are out of line in the 2 or 3 dashboards that CarScanner app has. Then you can do a rebalance procedure discussed on the forum that does align the cells more closely and then reported SoH goes up by about 1-2%. I would definitely be curious to see your dashboards if you can share and we can compare to ours.

FWIW, drove the 2022 GTS and it did handle as well as I recalled my 4S, but felt heavier as I had the smaller battery in the 4S, also felt quite slow even in Sport+ mode (I didn't launch so didn't get full 590hp) as I drove the Plaid S 4 hours to see it... Maybe with Red shift upgrade it would feel in the same ballpark. I tested everything including supercharging and android auto and all seemed to work, but there was a small scrape through to primer on rear door and rear quarterpanel, and the swirl marks on the paint of a car with only 6k miles were unbelievable bad (probably correctable with a 2 stage polishing regimen, but just sad to see a car like this clearly not cared for properly). Dealer wanted me to pay for the car (consignment?) claiming they'd fix the paint issues (hahaha) before delivery (but after I've already paid and signed the dotted line) and would not give me the $1k off I asked for to take it as is and use a reputable paint shop near me. Everything about the dealership just felt slimy and unreliable so I walked, as I wasn't ready to deal with such a bad initial experience along with the future hassle of dealing with Porsche service on all the recalls...

Hoping for some input on how long it might take a local Porsche dealership to address the 2 front brake line and (probably the bigger issue!) 2 HV battery cell block (inspection, possible replacement) as well as 240v cable recalls.
As expected, the price of the car is substantially discounted and I know there will be important steps like never charging above 80%, probably never charging @220v beyond 25 AMP rate until the cell block and cable recalls are complete.
Hoping for some input from people who've had these recalls done or are still waiting.

(FWIW, I had 2022 Taycan 4S I really liked except for charging network and performance, traded for 2023 Tesla Plaid S which is in a different universe of power (and actually handles quite well in Track Mode but like a way-too-fast boat in normal driving modes) and usability for long trips... But wife misses Taycan so much and I also miss the handling and electronic sport sound a lot so, given huge discounts considering getting a used GTS if the recalls are likely to be handled within a year or so...)
I'm taking my car to have the 3 recalls done, as well as the 20K mile service, next week. they gave me a time-frame of one week. With that said, and since i live approx. an hour away from this dealership, they offered to pay for my uber to and from their dealership (as i have a 2nd vehicle to drive around). hope this helps

Apologies to the OP for hijacking the post, but I’d really appreciate your thoughts on these. Car has covered 55k miles, and SoH is currently 85.4%. The car is due into the dealer on 6th Jan for the ARB5 recall so I’ll likely not attempt any rebalancing before then, but would certainly be keen to hear your thoughts on these:

ARB5 recall is estimated to have 100% of recalled VINs needing battery module repair.
It is likely that your 21 will also be subject to ARB6/ARB7 recall. Owner notification letters for ARB5 and ARB6/ARB7 are scheduled to go out starting Nov. 29. The NHTSA recall lookup has already indicated that some of our VINs are included in ARB7.

Suggest checking with your dealer about potential impact of ARB6/ARB7. After having battery modules replaced by ARB5, you don't want to have to discover more need repair with ARB6/ARB7. At a minimum, ARB6/7 involves installing diagnostic software.

Good luck.

The ARB5 letter I received makes reference to future installation of software which will be done via separate appointment. See here. Could this be ARB6/7?

Yes.
Edited: The timing of notification letters, etc., on NHTSA links applies to US VINs. UK timing, etc., may vary.

My only slight concern with this, and perhaps completely unfounded, is that it'll result in frequent service visits for potential issues...
