The Porsche experience is really lacking as of now. Brought it in today, a service rep with clearly no experience at all talked to me. I was trying to explain it to him but he constantly repeated that the only thing they know is bad chargers, then instead of a loaner they drove me him in a VW up.

I am gonna give you another update once they call me.

Just got a call back, indeed the OBS is bricked. They verified it and are suggesting to replace it. However there is a catch, 22KW OBS chargers are on backorder and will be available starting mid october only 11KW OBS chargers are availble. Porsche HQ appearantly told them that they can give me the taycan back and i should just drive with it. I then stated that this is kind of unacceptable and that they either pay for the extra charging cost or put the 11 KW charger in right now and replace it once they get one. He promised me to come back to me with an offer.

The 22kW is underspecced, poorly developed, unreliable, Italian junk.

Use the 11kW. It's still unreliable but less so.

Porsche failed hard on the most vital parts of an EV - the charging and the battery.

Still failing.

I like this approach - Use 11kW OBC for now, and have them switch it out to the "new" 22kW OBC in October. If they truly are working to have a new solution for the 22kW I'd take that over 11kW since I use a 22kW EVSE in my garage. And after all, that is what your car was sold with...

update: so today i wanted to charge at a fastcharger (first time since it was at porsche and they charged it), it would charge a couple of percent then stop. i immediately thought "ok, now the DC charger is gone as well" and called my porsche rep that i will come by right now and test it with their charger. i wasnt even out of the car before someone came to me with their charging card to plug it into their charger. it mercifully worked and didn't stop with an error. after talking to the rep and asking him how porsche now is dealing with this since i dont feel comfortable anymore to drive longer distances after my experience today, no backup AC charging, nothing.

What he told me was quite interesting, appearantly the inofficial number here for downgrading to the 11kw OBC is 1800 eur that porsche will pay and they the regional head will come by to discuss my case tomorrow since it is kind of special.

I think this goes beyond the OBC. As obviously DC charging is unrelated to the OBC and the OBC plays no part whatsoever in DC charging.

I think what's going on is that your car is slightly leaking electricity (what we call isolation fault) and when it reaches the safety thresold it simply triggers the chargers (isolation fault would affect both DC and AC).

maybe mention this to your Porsche technician?

What kind of error displayed on dashboard when charging stopped?

That doesn’t seem fair that you paid a lot more than 1800 for the 22Kw option but they keep what you originally paid for the option and downgrade you for free? Something doesn’t smell right here. Are they going to reinstall the 22Kw option again for free once they figure how to make the 22Kw option work properly? If not, they need to refund your 22Kw option with interest at a minimum.

I don’t think this is true. When my (22kW) OBC died, I was unable to charge either AC or DC. I tried multiple AC chargers and 2 or 3 DC chargers. The error that showed on on PIWIS was something about OBC unable to read some temperature. After the dealer swapped the OBC for a new one, both charging capabilities were restored.

My speculation is that the OBC is actually involved in both AC and DC charging signaling. This is consistent with the fact that the only way to add Plug-And-Charge capability to old Taycans was to replace the OBC. Furthermore, chances are that a disabled OBC would also fail some charging framework software checks, disabling charging completely.
