I have given up ! It was “fixed” by the dealer (but these fixes seem like they are simply a stop on a long frustrating journey!).. I sold the car once all codes were clear. It became too much.
Sorry to hear that. I hope whatever takes the parking spot is an enjoyable replacement!

I suggest you think long and hard about moving on ….
It is the first time it has been undriveable. Up to now it has given me very little trouble over 3.5 years. Will keep it for a while longer yet I think

I don’t blame you. I feel like many shops are genuinely not good at diagnosing and repairing HV faults. “Clear codes and hope” is the frequent first step.

I guess it's the luck of the draw..my experience has been much worse than yours...so many service visits, so many breakdowns, so little support (and so many delays) from dealer AND Porsche. I hope your luck continues!

This may have nothing to do with shop’s ability to diagnose. I think it’s Porsche’s warranty policy to clear the codes and if they don’t pop up again, no warranty work would be approved. This is “kicking the can down the road” approach, which I’m sure saves Porsche money in the long run, especially if the can is kicked far enough to make the part actually fail after warranty period.

I wonder if they are more likely to kick it when a car is out of the lemon law window?

Maybe, if the particular jurisdiction lemon law has a provision of being unable to remedy an issue in x visits. That said, they'd probably kick it the first time it happens anyways, maybe even the 2nd time, only on the last attempt they might proactively replace things, or heck, fly some engineer down to help resolve it (this happened to me once with a Lexus over a bluethooth noise issue they had a hard time resolving).

Having had a bit of a delay due to a shortage of technicians they eventually got my battery off the car. They replaced the faulty cell but then noticed that the bonding elsewhere in the battery had failed. So I need a whole new battery.

Clearly this is great news as I should get an updated battery in my car. Downside is that they have no timescale. Presumably has to come from Germany. And I am in a base model petrol Macan. It’s a nice car, but such laggy acceleration. And hopelessly underpowered (but as my wife pointed out, most cars will feel that way compared to a Taycan Turbo).

The Porsche centre people will keep an eye out for an EV to swap it for if one comes through which is good of them. Apparently all of the Porsche mobility cars are Macans of one type or another. Anyway, that is a first world problem and the Macan is a car that lots of people would be pleased to own. So I will wait patiently for my Taycan to come back with a new battery.

By bonding elsewhere in the battery do you mean the battery container was not properly sealed against exterior water penetration? If so could this have resulted from the earlier battery module replacement?

No. That is not what I understand. I was specifically told it was nothing to do with the earlier replacement and was a manufacturing fault. But honestly, who knows? I don’t really care which it is, just pleased that I will be getting the whole battery replaced

The wait is frustrating and I share your distaste for the poor performance of ICE Macans.

But I agree with the others, the most risk prone part of the car is getting an update to the latest and greatest! Worth the wait.

If it helps, think of all the miles you’re keeping off your car. :)

Having to have the propulsion battery of a Taycan Turbo replaced after 3 1/2 years isn't much of a prize in my opinion. That lottery ticket cost $150,000+.
